on Wemby...no denying that elbow was on purpose with intent to inflict pain...maybe a suspension for Game 5...

A flagrant foul 2 carries a minimum fine of $2,000 and is reviewed by the league office for possible supplemental discipline...

that's paltry...but I guess "minimum" is the key word...could be higher...

While Spurs coach Mitch Johnson didn't condone Wembanyama's actions,

he said after San Antonio's 114-109 loss that officials could do a better job of protecting the 22-year-old big man from the "physicality" routinely imposed on him by opponents...

Coach is really trying to flip what actually happened...

Edwards had a monster game. MN is a dangerous team but I think the Spurs hang on. OKC is another matter. The elbow was blatant but I don't want to see a playoff series influenced by any type of suspension. If there is a suspension, it should be applied next season.

"There will be no further discipline for Spurs star Victor Wembanyama after he was ejected for elbowing Naz Reid in Minnesota on Sunday night, sources tell ESPN. No suspension, no fine. Wembanyama will play in Game 5 against the Timberwolves on Tuesday night in San Antonio."

GEGJ NBA.

What a clownshow.

that Mixed Martial elbow shot to the face which was done on purpose looks like it will overlooked for viewership...
one of the hardest shots I have ever seen with an elbow...
I love Wemby...but he lost his cool and threw a very cheap shot...

a next season 1 game suspension serves no purpose...

The rational for this is "That's out of character for him, not something he's ever done before."

So he gets a pass.

Kermit Washington never raced down the court and coldcocked someone.

Until he did.

Talk about protecting the face of the NBA.

Disgusting.

Between nonsense like this and the emphasis on the 3 point shot in todays game, I'm becoming less and less of a fan of the game.

Well, I’m glad they don’t do this in court on first time murder charges… you screw up you gotta pay the piper…

Would love to hear the commissioners reasoning behind this; what if he clocked the guy in the head and knocked him unconscious/he hit the court passed out and fractured his skull or he hit him in the eye, shattered his eye socket and blinded the guy?

He should be suspended for the rest of the series.

I hope San Antonio loses the series.

Imagine if that standard was applied to the 80s Pistons? Those were the good old days. I remember Kevin McHale clotheslining Kurt Rambis in the playoffs and almost taking his head off.

The Lakers game tonight is on Prime and doesn't start until 10:30 EST. I guess they don't want anyone on the East coast to watch. Maybe that's for the best. I can't even use my DVR to tape Prime.

I am a Spurs and Warriors fan.

I rage when fouls are committed against “my” teams.

But I am not a hypocrite.

So when Wemby or Draymond Green commit flagrant or violent fouls they deserve a suspension.

No excuses, no explanations based on the fact that they play for my home team.

tough matchup for the Lakers… actually tough matchup for anybody… 19 turnovers tonight …way too many… hate being swept… but OKC is a very good team… with that said I hope they lose…😉… I’m a poor sport…lol…

"Turn out the lights, the party's over" as Dandy Don might say. The Lakers were outmatched by a better team. OKC is going to win it all.

First team to go back to back in forever.

They will steamroll whoever comes out of the East.

Sounds like the Lakers are going to make a big pitch for Giannis Antetokounmpo but that likely entails losing Reaves and James. GA prefers Miami, though.

The Spurs beat a play-in team (Portland) and a hobbled 6 seed (Minnesota).

I am not impressed.

Let’s see what they do against OKC.

On one of the sports talk shows here, someone who claims to have inside information said Brown is being dealt for Giannis...................and then the Celtics will sign James to a two year vet minimum deal, the new "Big Three"................Yeah; um.......that's a big no for me, I don't want either of those guys on the Celtics, period.

Let’s get the Cavs Pistons over with so the Knicks can move onto the finals.

After all of the shouting is over, the two teams in each conference that are the best/most complete ended up in the conference finals.

Talent wins in the NBA.

IMO, the Celtics "Championship window" with Tatum and Brown has closed, there are two teams in the West that would roll them if they got to the finals, not to mention the Knicks are better than them, it's a bad match up for them.

So like the last very good version of the Celtics in the late 2000's, this version will only get one championship.

One is better than nothing, but it's less than ideal.

Great post.

The NBA is unique with the smallest starting roster among the 4 major North American sports.

Plus their is not a dominant position that can influence the games, especially the playoffs.

The NBA has no equivalent to the QB, goalie or starting pitcher.

Can OKC and SA just play a best out of 13 for the championship, they are by far the two best teams, whichever advances to the finals will be a heavy favorite......................2007 Giants, 1969 Mets, 1969 Jets and all that, but whoever comes out of the East will be a huge underdog.
