That’s how they helped win the war - simple and practical designs able to be easily mass produced. The USA did the same thing. That said, I completely agree the German armor is far more exotic, interesting, and colorful than anything the Soviets or Americans built; and the later German Heer and especially the SS uniforms with the various camouflage patters definitely look neat.

The innovative camouflage that Germany created is still in use today despite their losing WW2.

Russia might have been a victor in that same war but you do not see many modern armies dressed in paper brown bag colored uniforms.

Mastercom10, the barrels/ball joints on both my FL Ferdinand and Elephant models did tend to be a bit loose. To correct this, I fully elevated the gun, applied a little bead of CA glue at the very bottom of the ball, then carefully elevated and depressed the barrel for a minute or so. The glue creates a tiny bit of friction that holds the barrel in a level position without it drooping over time.

In my diorama, I put the barrel in a down position to make the Ferdinand look a little more “knocked out”.

Yeah, it’s a shame, but could be worse. I’ve had the loose barrel issue on many FL and other manufacturers vehicles, however. It seems to happen most with models made from resin or plastic.
