Here is a list of figures and sets issued thus far in the French & Indian War series. I have organized it by the opposing armies and units. The serial numbers are for each figure or set issued. I have not included the 1st Foot Guards who did not serve in North America during the FIW but took part in the European campaigns of the Seven Years War. As far as I can tell the only 2 items no longer available are 43087 (Officer Virginia Regt.) and 43070 (Pvt. New Jersey Regt. "Jersey Blues".) I hope this list will be of help to collectors of the WB FIW series. Maybe some of you would like to suggest additional subjects not yet covered.

I see that but it is listed in the 2009 catalog so maybe there is hope yet. I really wish WB would make more of the Jersey Blues and more Rangers too.

Wonderful shots, Randy,
and a great idea to display those figures.
I might "steal" that from you

Thank you all for your kind comments. WB certainly has created a beautiful series of figures foe collectors and I look forward to more issues from the French & Indian War.

18th C Uniform Resource

An important 18th Century visual resource for historian/sculptors like Ken Osen and John Jenkins is the art work of David Morier (1705-1770). Morier was born in Berne, Switzerland but came to work in England as a painter in 1743. His patron was the Duke of Cumberland. Morier specialized in paintings of animals (especially horses), portraits, battle pieces (Culloden, for example, used by John Jenkins as a source for his Jacobite Rebellion series), and paintings of soldiers from various regiments, especially the grenadier units. The latter paintings have served as a significant resource for toy soldier makers.

You can look at a number of these paintings (51) at the online site for the Royal Collection, Windsor:

Thanks for the great images Randy. It really helps to see the figures organized in this fashion. We will be adding additional figures and new subjects to this period soon, along with some new figures to standard Redcoats and Bluecoats collections.
All the Best!

Here's an illustration of a soldier I would love to see Ken add to the French forces in the FIW line:

Compagnies franches de la marine* soldier in summer campaign dress.

* Independent Companies of the Navy.

The Ministry of the French Navy administered France's colonies in North America and were thus responsible for recruiting a military force. These Independent Companies became the regular colonial troops in Canada. Their ranks were filled with a mixture of recruits from France and Canada. WB has previously issued one figure (43147) from this unit in it's regular uniform of tricorne hat, grey-white coat with blue trim, blue waistcoat and breeches, white gaiters and black leather shoes. The summer dress shown here with a soft campaign hat and Indian leggings and moccasins would be a wonderful addition. These French units were well versed in Indian fighting techniques and wilderness warfare and like the colonial rangers of the British were active in raiding forays into enemy territory.

Randy,
Excellent idea. Ken, how about a pose where the marine is shooting, or another dressed as an indian. Also how about some more Hurons and perhaps a Mohican or two.
