Happy Birthday Mike. Wishing you the best for the year. Welcome the "70" club. John

Hi Mike,

Best Wishes for a very Happy Birthday !!

Cheers, Raymond.:)

Joining all in wishing you a Happy Birthday Mike an along with John welcome to the 70's.

Dear John, Mike, Rob, Martyn, Raymond, Joe, and Scott,

Thank you so much for your kind greetings. Although I have joined the 70 Club, it has happened sooner than I ever would have ever dreamed of
when I was in my 30s. Of course, it sure beats the alternative of not reaching 70, so I'll take it.

By the way, to all of you who wished me a Happy Birthday last year, I would like to appologize for ignoring you, but it wasn't intentional. I just discovered the "Treefrog Chat Lounge" for the first time last summer and didn't realize that you had left greetings months before under the "Happy Birthday! and more" sub-section.

Best regards,

Happy Birthday to a fellow Capricorn Mike, thanks for sharing all those great photos of your fantastic Hiriart collection with us. :salute::

B.

Although my birthday was on January 16th, I just received an unexpected gift from Bob Walker yesterday. My son had planned to take me out to dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant in Costa Mesa on the 14th, unfortunately, he had a serious mountain biking accident on the 7th and had to cancel (this will make sense in a moment). He had a complete break of the two bones in his forearm which protruded through the skin in his arm. He also broke his nose and index finger. The hospital emergency room doctor said that he may not have survived the accident had he not been wearing a helmet which had cracked on impact. Instead, on the 16th, my wife and I drove the 40 miles to his house in Laguna Niguel to pick him up (he couldn't drive) so he could join us at the Ruth Chris Steakhouse in Anaheim for dinner. At dinner, he insisted we reschedule the Maggiano's dinner for the 21st.

I walked into Maggiano's on the 21st expecting to see my son, his wife, and my granddaughter. Instead, they had a surprise party for me with my three brothers (two of whom had flown in for the event), my sister, their spouses, nieces, nephews, and my friend, Bob Walker. What a pleasant surprise. I received an "Old Guys Rule" T-shirt, a book on UCLA's top 100 basketball games, wine, etc. as gifts. Bob had ordered a gift for me which hadn't arrived by the 21st. It is three King & Country French Napoleonic figures, photos attached. However, the best gift of all is that my son survived that accident.

I just checked out the SD card on my wife's digital camera and came across this photo of me last month holding up the back cover of National Geographic magazine's January 1942 issue. A full color advertisement for SPAM! I guess that it speaks volumes for the times. Just think, 70 years ago, it was the only kind of SPAM we had to deal with.

Mike,

First of all, I am glad and relieved to hear that your son is all right. Second of all, congrats on your surprise party, and couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!:smile2:

Hi Buster,

Thanks for the complement. If I thought SPAM would keep me looking young, I would make a run to Costco and pick up a case right now. Seriously, I think genes have a lot to do with how one looks, although the fact that I have never smoked, done drugs, don't drink hard liquor, probably doesn't hurt either.

Louis,

Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate them.
