Re: Three most accurate D-Day movies

I don't recall seeing Overlord either. I saw in the newspaper it was made around the same time as A Bridge Too Far in the seventies.

    Re: About Face

Thanks for the input. The podcast also mentioned The Last 100 Yards, but cost $75 on Amazon, so I won't be buying it. Its about small infantry tactics.

    About Face

Anybody read this book by Colonel David Hackworth? What's your opinion? I heard about this on a podcast. Its 875 pages long and am a little worried about its length.

    Auburn Rubber WWII soldiers

I trying to complete my Auburn collection and am interested in the rubber version (not plastic). There is currently an auction ending in 5-hours. However, I see a lot of flashing on the figures and...
  5. Re: A Parade of Pachyderms! Share your elephants here!

Zach, you need the elephant pulling the boat. I don't think it was Beau Geste, but another company from Argentina. I'm sure other members here are familiar with set.
  6. Re: Diorama....The end of the 1000 year Reich

Thanks Pat. I'll bet a lot of people didn't know WWII weapons were used. I didn't myself, until just a few years ago.
  7. Re: Diorama....The end of the 1000 year Reich

I am always amazed on much is carried on patrol. Although soldiers would have conditioning in carrying a combat load, the heat and terrain would especially be difficult. I can imagine drinking...

Simon, let us know what you think of them when you receive the soldiers. Please post pics too. I really like them, but trying to resist as I feel I have too much stuff already. Lately, I've been...

    Miniature Stories

Miniature Stories has posted in the "Other Manufacturer" section of this Forum. Their Singapore modern soldiers look excellent. Is anyone in the USA planning to carry this line? How much is $59 SGD...
  12. Re: 2019 Lawrence Lo Memorial New York Toy Soldier Symposium

Louis, sounds like you're a Scotch/Bourbon drinker. Try Elijah Craig made in the USA, about $30 for 750 ml. Great flavor. I used to buy McCallan Scotch at $55, but the Elijah Craig is just as good....

  15. Re: Our changing hobby-the decline of shows and possible alternatives

    I have a friend who shockingly told me he didn't know what came first, WWII or the Korean War. I always assumed people had a general knowledge of history. Apparently not!{eek3}

I like the way you think George, not mixing business with pleasure. Just relax and have fun. I'm sure Louis
was well intended. BTW, Go Pats!

    Re: Questions on K&C Huey

A Sheridan tank would be a great addition. VN01 is my favorite set with the radio operator & LT.
  18. Re: Franco Prussian War figures.....................

Coincidentally the War Wagon was on the tube today. It was great. I forgot John Wayne was in it. Good ending too.

Don't forget the Vikings with Tony Curtis! I always wanted to re-see the War Wagon. I loved it as a kid.

Re: Paths of Glory December 10 1015pm TCM

I have a lot of DVDs still in their wrappers. For some reason, I don't watch movies unless they're playing "live" on TV. Also I'm not very tech savvy other than work stuff and prefer to live in the...

Re: Paths of Glory December 10 1015pm TCM

I don't recall seeing this movie at anytime during my life, which is surprising since I love war movies. So I tuned in last night, saw the beginning attack and part of the trial, but I had to turn it...

Thanks Jeff and Gary for the nice and clear photos. The plastic soldiers look great. I may have to venture in that direction. I was hoping for a group shot with your buddies at the bar. I always look...
