    Discovering King Tutankhamun

Hey Mike, always fun to start collecting a new series. I'm tempted to collect this range as my Grandfather spent several months there as a Trooper with the Australian Lighthorse and later as a Military Policeman patrolling Egypt/Palestine etc during WWI. He brought back several souveniers...

    Things that annoy me

Perhaps the most important thing missing from this discussion is that in most Countries you are only considered to be a Trader under the Tax Law if you Buy Good(s) intending to Sell. Most Collectors are Not Traders and are allowed to Declutter their Collection at any time. Consequently you are...

Always when the men are away

Food fights are usually fun, but seriously, those Muslims are never happy, give them a part of your country and they still complain.

    News Update May 5th, 2025 - Anglo-Zulu War

While I've never been a fan of the Zulu War, always seemed to one-sided, these are very impressive posses, especially the Spearman attacking the mounted Trooper. However I would display him against the figure with sword pointing downwards. BTW there are several small towns in Australia named...

    KUR010 Ferdinand #501

I suspect the trend of blackening of the barrel end/muzzle brake on prebuilt collectable models follows the trend amongst the plastic modelling community. Personally as a past model builder and painter I find this subject (somewhat) interesting but can understand that others do not. I think...

    KUR010 Ferdinand #501

Yes, firing does tend to blacken the barrel end, and it's worth noting that some of the barrels pictured have covers on the end to keep out dust etc.

    King & Country Dispatches -- May 2025

Some popular releases this month, I'll get the VC Patrol set and the Capture of Ned Kelly set, with an opportunity to mix these Troopers with the JJD Gold Rush sets. In 1906 Australia made the World's First feature length film, 'The Story of the Kelly Gang', and of course it's the Worlds First...

    Are people getting crazier?

I suspect there are a number of factors involved however I agree the increasing use of drugs certainly makes things worse. I've been rewatching the terrific Narcos TV series that Brett recommended to me several years ago. The series reminded me of the early days of drug use in Australia, back...
