Stacking Diorama Cases
Hoping to roll out this design type soon this one is the smallest at 6 inch square by 4 deep when i find some time to play around with it i am going to try to scale it up to 2 foot square, this should solve a few space related problems that some lucky people have. ;)
This is a new design which we are hoping to scale up for diorama displays, this particular one could be used for individual set piece scenarios, machine gun nest etc.. or vehicles, next in line will be one for standing aircraft, and eventually upto the popular 24x12x6 size case, multiple levels...
heres one odd ball i wish i had stuck with and finished, HMVS Cerberus ?, if i remember correctly, a victorian ironclad, and still visible sunk off the coast of Australia somewhere ? and in the background the unfinished and disposed of Melik yet another regret.
I usually make the gun cariages for my cannon, in my Ironclads album there are a couple of fuzzy pictures of the CSS Albemarle crew hauling on ropes getting the gun into position, i think i put five figures in there the gun carriage is wheeled and shaped similar to the above photo, it was only...
strange thing to build was the choctaw, i had an idea of her in my head and set off building her up, and it was only later when i saw better and more detailed pictures of her that i noticed i had buggered up the front end completely ..so i just wrapped the project up as best i could, but like...
Re: The strangest ship of the war
those paddle housings dont look right do they ? but apparently thats how they had them built this way because they looked big and intimidating, making the ship look more impressive and powerful than it perhaps was.
Fitting the armour plate, strictly speaking Confederate Ironclads had wooden upper decks including the new css Texas, the only noteable exception of this was the CSS. Albemarle which was covered all over in armour plate, this made the ship practically indestructable, but had the drawback of...
bearing in mind that sloped armour was supposedly invented by the russians in the second world war:p work on Building and positioning the casemate begins, then she`s going to the armour plate factory for a first fitting.
The yankees are getting the upperhand and Confederate forces have held out as long as they could, CSS Albemarle had fought valiantly and even with her weaknesses and design flaws had nevertheless had shaken and held off the Northern river squadrons so much that the Northern government planned...
The strangest ship of the war
USS. Choctaw, propeller and side paddle driven river boat, ungainly, ugly (in a beautiful way) lured in to shallow water run a ground and captured by wading soldiers and then recaptured by union forces using a hastily constructed dummy ship with beer barrels for...

this is a new one that i have just started to make, until now i have been reluctant to send this type of case out by mail order but i have redesigned the front door panel to (hopefully) withstand the rigours of our postal service. i will be sending out a couple of testers within the next week or...
i think i may have to pick another southern boat if i am to condense the structure down to the toy scale (which is something i am persistantly told to do by pat adams) but the only reason i want to build Texas is the long fore & aft decks....lots of lovely wood grains to polish up there, and it...
