I went on a hiking weekend and didn’t watch a second of sports on TV. Engaging in your own sports is 10,000 times better than watching others.
I dont know for sure but havent most MLB managers long since gone away from managing via the gut and toward statistically based decision making? Ie when a pitcher hits a certain number of pitches, hes gone. Or lefty vs righty. Or what so and so has done historically on Tuesdays in September...
Those were halcyon days for Braves fans. I remember them fondly - and with frustration at not winning more WS titles.
The current team seems a bit more balanced with greater offensive capabilities, albeit without the stellar pitching. Perhaps also more fun to watch, too.
