    Kursk 1943

Thanks guys. This one took a while, despite its simplicity, but I think it came out decent. It will be interesting to see it with different backgrounds and I need to throw a Stalingrad column onto the road. First Legion's recent vehicle releases have been excellent. Keep using whoever you have...

Thank you all for the kind comments. This year's project took a tad longer but I'm happy with the result. I suspect this will be useful for some Kursk scenes I have in mind. Stay tuned.

We built ceiling racks and the remaining boards that are flat enough stand vertically against the wall.

The vapors from the resin stripped the paint off our culvert pipes so some touchup is in order. We also had a few stray bubbles that didn't make it out of the resin.

Time to pour the ditch. We start by masking to try to keep static grass from falling into the resin. Mix resin and hardener and some green paint to give the water an algae color Pour Break the surface tension of the resin Bubbles slowly come out of the resin

    KUR010 Ferdinand #501

I'm not a fan of the trend for manufacturers to release models with full black muzzle brakes. I suspect that in most cases manufacturers are trying to simulate carbon buildup due to muzzle blast. I'm not saying some didn't come from the factory with a black muzzle brake as Hunter Rose alluded...

I realize this years dio is only making slow progress but the team members have been busy. Regardless, things continue to move along. Starting on the road, plant detailing, and started adding some static grass. The ditch and puddle water will be the last thing we add. We tried different ways to...

We used super fine sand as a base coat on the gravel road. The color is wrong but that will be fixed later.

The key with the dirt will be modulation and layers. We don't want it to look too uniform. We used a variety of colors and textures.

As far as I recall he was a re-seller. I purchased items from Nevskaya miniatura http://www.soldiers-neva.com/ and Russian Vityaz https://ruvit.ru/ through him.

Tariffs - The Elephant in the Room

This is by design more than where things are manufactured. Manufacturers don't make money on products that last "forever". You used to be able to get spare parts for things too but that has largely disappeared.

Tariffs - The Elephant in the Room

So China --> USA (+20% tariff), then USA --> Canada (+20% retaliatory tariff) , then CAD exchange (+47%). $100 product --> $120 --> $144 --> $211.68. Couple this with higher taxes and lower incomes and things get cost prohibitive very quickly. Where I used to purchase whole batches of figures...

Adding some furrows and add a base coat of paint in the ditch We painted some brass tubing matt silver to simulate galvanized pipe. It was then weathered. This will be used for the culvert under the driveways

    Russian Farm Scene

Thanks guys! I originally purchased the farm house with 5 additional TM Terrain tiles. These tiles had a road in front of the farm an a little static grass but were pretty boring. I ended up using the farm house as a stand alone piece in many scenes (usually in the background). That's what led...

    Russian Farm Scene

This year I wanted to do David Marshall's Russian farm house justice. I'm going to embed it in one of our custom groundworks. as usual we start with high density foam board. This scene will feature the farm house, a ditch, a gravel road, and a furrowed field.
