I have just inherited my grandfathers Tower of london chess set which he bought for £1000 in 1978, i have the original charter of ownership signed in the tower of london by Field MArshal Sir Geoffrey Baker and Major Genral WDM Raeburn and also the original Humbrol primers and colours certificate. I even have the original envelope from the manufacturer sent from Twickenham, London dated 13 DEC 1978. The set is number 8 of 500.

At this stage i have no idea of the repair of the set or the oak table as it is in transit but the paperwork is in my possession.

This isn't really a sales pitch but a cry for help really, i have no idea of its value for insurance purposes, and if the thing is worth a few quid then I may consider selling it to an enthusiastic collector.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
