    Looks like New Jersey is no longer treating ebay as a yard sale. Typically you would not be involved with taxes if the seller is not an actual established business. It would be like New Jersy going after everyone that had a yard sale and sales a few items every couple months.

    But looks like if you sell to someone in New Jersey, they are going to charge tax regardless. I had not heard of this development before.

    I just found this info on this ebay page -
    Based on applicable tax laws, eBay will calculate, collect, and remit sales tax on behalf of sellers for items shipped to customers in the following states, which are listed on this page:

    They may also report you to IRS depending on your sales level.
