I purchased this model when it came out a few years ago, it's one of my favourite pieces. One of the things I enjoy most is noticing something different every time i pick up an airplane or tank that I've collected over the years. Anyway, did any of you that bought this notice the yellow "WW" underneath the serial number on the tail section? It stands for "War Weary". When a particular airplane flew a lot of missions and was showing a lot of wear and tear, so to speak and especially when newer models or even new types of aircraft were due to come out and replace planes in an existing squadrons. They would take aircraft out of service and designate it for non-combat roles. This would explain while this particular aircraft is assigned to an Emergency Rescue squadron. I did not no about this, it's just another reason why I enjoy this hobby of ours so much. Do some research and you find out lots of interesting things.

I often wonder if K&C realised that the markings were for a war weary air sea rescue aircraft, before they commited to it :confused: It seemed a very starnge choice {sm2}

Hi David,

In answer to your question above...We certainly did know that this aircraft with its particular colour scheme and markings belonged to an 'Air Sea Rescue Squadron'...That was one of the main reasons we chose it...They were just so striking!

Most of the aircraft K&C have made over the years have had colour schemes and markings that have a 'story' behind them... or a connection to a famous 'ace' pilot ...or even a well-known personality....
'Rommel's Desert Taxi Me.108'...'Johnnie Johnson's Spitfire Mk.IX' are just two examples.

Hope this helps...All the best and happy collecting! Andy.
