Almost no black toysoldeirs, Why?? (1 Viewer)

Many collectors are still hoping for ranges covering Jewish history. I'm sure ancients fans would love that, in the same way JJD has done Aztecs etc.

One would think that with the amount of yidden in this hobby and the widespread appeal of Biblical themes we could get some First Temple Israelites to fight Egyptians or some Hellenic-period Israelites to fight the Greeks and Romans.

K&C is really the only maker out there commercially producing Jewish figures, which I have purchased. Ready for Action did some great stuff, all of which I have, but that’s about it.

A few companies have done chaplains or similar scenes, such as FL, and Britains has been doing some great civilians, so it would be cool to see some Jewish chaplains or civilians. I know Britains was open to it when I talked with them. Imagine a set depicting the famous photograph of a WWI German Army rabbi, KuK Imam, and a priest.

I’m hoping that First Legion’s Biblical Wars range will, at some point, have a Jewish sub range.

Would be nice a diorama about the jewish resistance and sacrifice of Masada. The romans are already done.

Don't you understand? Maybe my english is not good enough....I mean that there are no black soldiers among the many KC WW2 americans...

I'm sure manufacturers have studied their core audience and know what sells, whether it's something you collect or not, as an example WW2 German SS troops in combat poses are something that appeals to a lot of collectors and while they do experiment with other lines, the ones that pay the bills and make a profit are and have to be the ones made, so that they stay in business.
Which is why we see lots of WW2 German SS troops made compared with more niche interests. If there was a large calling for more behind the lines logistical support type troops, you might find a more varied mix, which is going to be a major factor with WW2 US troops. You could have say black gunners manning a 155mm Howitzer and as truck drivers. But at the time, US troops were segregated.

Poppo, I can usually work out what you're saying, it's more the fact that you often post incorrect assertions to support your personal opinions.

For example, please check K & C set DD039 - GMC Truck with Three crew issued in 2003, the driver is African-American. This is just one of a number of 'Black Soldiers' produced by K & C over the years, in this case specifically 'KC WW2 Americans'.

A beautiful figure.
It's true that we have far more Africans than African-Americans in our collection. I like how TCS made both white and black versions for their Vietnam sets, but the poses/faces should have been more different IMHO.
Let's see some more Africans as well. In Carthage, as allies of Troy (Ethiopians), and always more Zulus and Sudanese. I'd love to see a Mansa Musa caravan series. And every country's black soldiers throughout History - a long list indeed.
As for black Americans, the market for African-American military history may grow based on the people I've spoken to recently. African-American History is, IMHO, increasing in popularity. They may not be collectors themselves, but their interest in History may inspire their kids to be.
I have never seen our Hobby as racist. It has always tried to include new people. With respect to your concerns, Poppo, I think your accusations about releases are unfair. But it did make us think so that's freedom.

Those Hebrew soldiers would work with Masada, Lachish, and against Egypt if they were produced.
I am thinking more & more that ancient Jewish soldiers are coming. We will see.
Since Dad & I didn't collect K&C's awesome IDF, we may want to fill that gap in our completionist collection where we try to cover as much History as possible.

A quick change of paint colour is always going to be cheaper than new sculpts, but I think TCS gave more choice to collectors by doing that. For great looking African sculpted heads, I've always like Conte's Zulus quite ferocious faces on some.

Mcfarlanes figures, did their ranges with hispanic, Negro and Asian Versions as well. They changes out the heads and the paint jobs on extremities. Theoretically should be quite rare and therefore collectable. No one cares, I had some for sale on ebay for years. If you like I have some for sale. Deprado has some AA figures in their men at war series.
I recently won a door prize and Selected Wbritains AA US Cavalry figure. its sharp!

Interesting. I'm too into Ancients and Medievals (and Wellington in India) to do more US History right now but it's a shame that such good ideas go without people noticing. Maybe if a bigger manufacturer did it they would sell.
Thanks for the info
Paddy
