or the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum-definitely worth spending at least a few hours while visiting the city(photos were taken in Oct. 2018):

(Couldn’t edit out my reflection in the glass-sorry)

Map of the multi-lingual empire(notice that the Transylvania
area is labeled “Siebenbürgen” after the seven fortified towns of the province built by Saxon knights in the 12th century).

Location of the empire’s 16 army corps(in the days prior to his assassination, Archduke Ferdinand had attended Austrian military maneuvers around Sarajevo)

Portrait of the ill-fated Crown Prince Rudolph. His mother, the beautiful and beloved Empress Elisabeth or Sisi,(formerly Duchess Elisabeth of Bavaria)also met a tragic end; she was stabbed to death on the shore of Lake Geneva by an anarchist in 1898.

They have a good collection of Prussian items from the Seven Years War, like those grenadier and fusilier caps, and also regiment flags and other uniforms and equipment. I know that several of the members of the SYW group on Kronoskaf enlist the help of the staff there in researching articles for our website.

Prost!

Yes, I took a lot of photos of them, but the big problem was they were behind glass, and the reflection didn't do justice to artifacts on exhibition.

Being up 'close and personal', be it behind glass, was the highlight for me in the 7 Years War gallery, it sure beats looking in books at B&W photos !!!!!

Great shots, really brings back some wonderful memories of when we could travel. This year was a bust.

I think architecturally it is my favorite Museum in Europe, The entrance with the statues and staircase, the vaulted ceilings painted with glorious scenes of battle and all the marble feels more like a Great Church then a Military Museum (no disrespect intended to the faithful).

I really enjoyed it all, Favorites for me where 7YW, Napoleonic and the Siege of Vienna display ( loved the tent). Great pictures keep em coming, I spent the whole day there, may have to dig out my photo's.
