So which of these scenarios are invasions that were planned and either failed to be carried out, died in the early stages, or actually succeeded? Multiple votes allowed, please refrain from researching them until after you vote, and don't post/debate the answers until I have posted, so as to give people time to give there own answers:D
Thanks, and good luck!

So here it is... the long awaited answers^&grin^&grin....

This was kind of a trick question: all of the scenarios actually happened, in the following capacities:

Russia > India (During the Crimean War, Russia planned, and failed, to invade India through Afghanistan.)

France > India (During the Egyptian Campaign, Napoleon planned, and failed to invade India after he defeated the Ottomans.)

France > Ireland (During the Napoleonic Wars, the French sent troops to help the Irish rebel, and manage to set up an independent state for a short while.)

USA > Canada (During the A.W.I., and the War of 1812, the U.S. invaded British held Canada.)

Japan > Russia (Look up the Russo-Japanese war.)

England > Denmark (During the Napoleonic Wars, the British twice invaded Denmark to stop the Danish fleet from falling into French hands.)

Ireland > Scotland (E.C.W.)

England > Iceland (England "invaded" Iceland's waters during the many "Cod Wars".)

England > Washington State (The British and AMericans faced off over the death of a pig on San Juan Island, and involved both Picket and Roberts, in the little-known "Pig Wars".)

Actually when this event took place, Washingtion was not a State but still a territory. It only became a State 30 years after this event...
