Hi guys,

I'm curious if any of you have noticed the price disparity with K&C tanks. I recently picked up the DAK Panzer II (AK113) with half soldier at the whopping price of $249. I knew it was high, but it got me looking at some other models and wondering why such a disparity exists in pricing. Understanding that prices have gone up for some newer items, it does not seem to always be the case. In addition, size and detailing does not always seem to draw a higher price. Let me share a good range of tanks/prices so that you can see a few for comparison.

Some are 1st time productions.
Some have 1 or more figures.
Some are repaints.
Some are more complex to produce.
Sometimes the dart hits the 249 dollar mark.

Hi there,
I think it's because fighting vehicles come in all shapes and sizes and styles...Some are reasonably straight-forward to manufacture while others are distinctly more complex...Some may contain figures others not...A whole host of reasons in fact... but that's the general idea as the lad before me also stated.
Hope this helps explain, Andy.

Hi Andy,
Appreciate you taking the time to help explain. I suppose it was most noticeable with my latest purchase, the new Panzer II. It's such a little guy and doesn't seem too detailed. Compared to the Fury Sherman and some of the large Tigers, I would have expected a much lower price. Thanks for helping explain.

A long time ago the gray Panzer II was $89 with 2-full figures and 1-half figure.

Yes my friend, that was back in the days when Granny was a boy and a loaf of bread cost tuppence and admission to see a movie was three farthings and two bottle tops !!!
Aaaah, the good, bad old days. Nostalgia ain't what it used to be...
Andy.

Hi Rob,
Many thanks for your reply...Re the cost of the new PanzerII compared to some others...Another major factor is the quantities ordered of any particular model...The little PanzerII was ordered in the low hundreds...Tigers and Shermans, by comparison, are much more popular and were ordered (and sell) in the many, many hundreds!
However, maybe next time we will get you out to Hong Kong and let you negotiate with the factory...What d'you reckon..?
Best wishes and happy collecting, Andy.

I had never considered quantity as a consideration - I see.

I probably couldn't do any better than you and your team Andy, but I would love to see your shop there in Hong Kong.

Go for Broke,
Imagine buying a stack of them back in the day. New in box examples have been selling for 3-4 times the original retail last time I checked.
Another example of a K&C set appreciating greatly in value !

Hi Rob,
If you ever get out here to the 'Pearl of the Orient' you're more than welcome to visit our shop on Hong Kong's Pacific Place...We will also invite you up to Head Office (just5-10 minutes away) and show you around...
Quite a few of the guys here have been to HK and Head Office and I am always delighted to spend time with them ...Saturday mornings are best as it's more relaxed and I'm usually the only one working!!!
All we request is you contact us a few weeks before any visit so we can make sure of suitability (re work schedules) and best date and time for all concerned.
Best wishes again, Andy.
