I received my first shipment of Prussians on Friday. They were everything I could have hoped for. I must compliment First Legion on their packing. They were so tightly packaged that all arrive without so much as a bent bayonet.

The Colbert figure must be seen to believe. It is amazing just how good it looks.:)

After payday I will be ordering more.

So they are as good or better than they look? Certainly that was the case for the other series. Any pictures?

I only received four Prussians and Colbert. Matt's web pictures are far superior to anything I could do.

I don't know about that but it is nice to see them "in the field.":D It must have been hard to pick just 4, which ones did you get?

Another question, how do they look, in person, facing off against the Guard Chasseurs?

Darn!!! The UPS man drove right past my house without stopping @#*&%$!!!

LAWs Rocket perhaps?:D:D
Maybe, But I'm like Veruca Salt, I want it NOW!! But I really don't to deprive other people. You would think that the least the UPS person could do is slow down and apologize for not stopping. This is important stuff that I'm waiting for!

It was a hard decision deciding which four. I would have rather brought them all at once, however I’m not that rich. Just buying the four Prussian and Colbert added up to well over three hundred dollars.

I settled on buying the flag, drummer, a front rank figure, and a second rank figure.

I chose the flag and drummer because I always start any unit with these two. I chose the front and second rank figures because I wanted to have a feel for how good these looked before I invented more money into building a Prussian unit. These two figures will be later brought in multiplies. My next order will include the wounded figures and the NCO. After that, in October, I will be getting an officer and more infantry.

If you were limited to only four figures for your first purchase which four would you have picked and why?

I bought three for my collection, the flag bearer, drummer and NAP0166 a second rank soldier. I will get the officer later.

The great thing about such questions is that there is no wrong answer.:D Your choices are great and it is indeed a hard decision. I would likely get these four:

I love both officer figures and I have a preference for the aggressive charging figures. I typically get the standard bearers later but this one was a close call so I certainly see why you choose him.

I would start with four infantrymen, to get a real basic idea of how the overall set up will look. You know, build up the line, then add the officers/drummer later. That is what I did with the British Guards and what I'm doing now with the French Chaussers. However, I don't think that I could pass up the Prussian flagbearer. That is a beautiful piece! First Legion has always impressed me with thier standard-bearers.

You know the problem with all these releases is that you really cannot get (or afford) enough of them. In a real sense, the greatest competition any FL release has is a previous or future FL release. I would love to start these but I have too many duplicates for a French attack and stiff British defense still needed:( And this is not to mention the Carabiniers, and hoped for Cuirassiers, British Dragoons, French Dragoons, French and British Hussars, Rifles, British line and Highlanders.:D Maybe a night raid on the warehouse in Texas or an insanity discount is called for.;):D

So, what you're saying is that it would be helpful if we slowed down our Napoleonic release schedule?!:eek::D

I just couldn't resist these, I took the plunge and ordered two of each of all the Prussians, plus four of Colbert....................to have as stock for my next show on September 12th......;)

you're gonna have a smashing display george.
maybe 2 beds are not enough.:)

No it wouldn't help at all. But along the insanity line, if I'm hearing voices, can I get a group discount?

He, he, nice try Matt but that notion disregards the utility function of each collector for each series as well as each figure in the series. While all these figures are extremely nice, each collector will have a different relative preference for one versus the other that is not solved by delaying the satisfaction of that preference. So if your preference is for British / French encounters, delaying British / French releases will not increase that collector's consumption of Prussian or Russian figures since they are not a perfect substitute. It will delay the revenue from that consumer to the company that postpones the releases however.;):D

So what I am saying is that your figures are their own competition but they are still subject to your customers' preferences and budget constraints. Thus someone who appreciates the quality of your figures will tend not substitute an alternative figure from another company but rather will tend to wait for you to produce or they to afford the figures from you that satisfy that customer's utility function. It is quite a compliment really.:D
