Gents,

It was better than the last one. I give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I have become a fan of actor Mads Mikkelsen after watching a few of his flicks on Netflix.

Just got back from seeing it. Thought it was fantastic. Lots of easter eggs in the movie linking it to the first one.

John, if you get a chance, watch Mikklesen's work as Hannibal Lecter in the NBC tv series Hannibal. It is terrific. -- Al

Just saw it with my younger son who is a Star Wars fan. We both loved it. Great acting without super stars and story that fits in the whole saga.

Gents,

Yeah, y'now what I take my 3.5 stars back and give it a 4.25 out of 5. I was a little lost at the beginning with all the different planets and trying to keep up AND there was no signature scroll UP of the back story and then...PAN DOWN from the stars to the action. Missed that man!

Lancer, I did not know he was in an American Show. I watched Flame & Citron, The Hunt and After the Wedding and was astonished at his abilities. The Hunt was the first movie I saw him and it is a searing performance. I was stunned at the story line, acting and ending. Wow! I have more films of him to watch. I just have not got there yet.

I LOVED the fact that they brought back the X-Wing pilots from the original Star Wars as true to the spirit pilots of the rebellion. It was neat to see them use CGI to re-incarnate Princess Lea and the Admiral.

I guess all the kids on the outer rim drink the blue milk. Also did anyone notice the alien that Jyn bumped into when she was walking through the market? Or the Stormtroopers talking about the new speeder models?

Worked out it fits into the order between 3 & 4 in the series, ie 3.5, not too bad in 3D. Robin.

I went and saw this the other day and I have to say it's very well done. It works in perfectly between episodes 3 and 4 and the CGI done on Lea and Tarkin was awesome to say the least. They can now create younger versions of actors and bring back actors from the dead! Perhaps we'll see a younger Han Solo or Luke (or both) and Obi-Wan Kenobi might be brought back to life in future films.

The only downside to the movie is that I didn't like the opening scenes as they jumped around a lot and I also didn't like that the opening star wars music score and writing on the screen like the previous films were missing.

Yes, I really enjoyed it. There was some real fun seeing some old faces again.

Spoiler!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to see a suicide squad which actually lives up to its name!

Saw it on the 26th and Carrie Fisher died the next day. Very entertaining movie and good tie in to the first movie. Chris

I enjoyed it more than the previous movie, a more serious film than most in the franchise but it did include some nice tie-ins and some terrific one liners. I watched it on the afternoon of the day Carrie Fisher died on the aircraft, closest thing to space when you think of it. I found it very sad to see her younger self onscreen late in the movie.

I enjoyed it......the planet with the palm trees was stunning!
Like the boots on the ground battle scenes....plenty of stormtroopers in this one!

My son and family and me very much enjoyed this one, brought back many memories at the end to 1977 and the first time I saw Star Wars. ironically, I saw this and that one in the same theater! Go figure!

Not only has the Brand stood the test of time Tom, but more astonishing your same cinema too. Unbelievable, nothing stays the same these days. Robin.

Robin,

Funny you mention that! The Theater has the same name - Sun & Surf Cinema - but not the same format! They have gone to reserved seating with lay flat leather recliners!!! Back in 1977 when I saw Star Wars, the theater was old style with a ton of regular seating and probably double the amount. Of course in 1977, the movie ticket for a kid was probably $2, in 2017, it was $15 matinee!!!!!!!!!!!!! (all seatS)

So, unfortunately, really not the same in some ways! But still ironic in the fact that same cinema location, same building and same owners.
