During my sojourn to Australia earlier this year I paid a couple of visits to my old chum Howard at his K&C shop in Donnybrook. I also attended the splendid Melbourne K&C Dinner organised by Howard with Andy N. as guest speaker. A great night was had by all attendees. Amongst my many purchases from Howard's shop was the impressive Pike Bishop Gang and during the evening I told both Howard and Andy that I might just construct a little diorama of that iconic scene from the movie when I get back to the UK.

However, I needed a few figures of General Mapache's Federales troops for the background of the scene and K&C unfortunately have not yet got involved in figures of the 1910-20 Mexican Revolution. The time line for Peckinpah's movie is 1913 and the character Mapache does have two German military advisors. Scouring Howard's WWI cabinet I finally selected the two German PoWs and the Von Bulow figure for conversion into Federales

I also added the K&C Alamo lady who has been repainted to represent a Mexican woman and child (the bearded guy on the end is not part of the scene -he's an unfinished Gettysburg farmer for a future ACW dio)

End result

Andy/Howard many thanks for your company and hospitality whilst I was down under. Talking shop and history with both of you is always a total pleasure and always thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you and I'll see you both soon.
Bob

From conception to completion - Very well done !

Thank you for posting.

What an absolutely fantastic rendering of the iconic scenes in the movie. It all just looks so spot on. Great figures, great conversions, great scenery/accessories, and brilliant ambiance. Bravo, Bob! :salute:: -- Al

What have you used for that? ( what is that green paste perfectly modelled).

That is freakin Awesome! I love the conversions and how you developed the display!!!

Looks like I will be rewatching that one as it is one of my favorite movies.

Afternoon UKReb,

When it is difficult to distinguish between the real photo and the diorama, ..... you know it is a WINNER. :salute::

The matching of details is incredible .... superior job.

How clever are you Bob, great conversions. Of course you could have simply asked Andy and he would have made them for you, but where's the fun in that. Two nicer guys in Howard and Andy you will not find. You obviously had a great time down under. Robin.

Bob mate, great to see you posting here. I enjoyed meeting you and the Brit Gang years ago at the June 2012 London toy soldier show. Nice scene you have made here and great conversion work on the figures. Keep up the good work my friend.

Bob, Awesome how you replicated scenes from the actual movie with these K&C figures. First time anyway has dove into this subject with Toy Soldiers. {bravo}}

Wayne

Excellent scene and conversions Bob, young Howard is always able to find something that will work!

Hi Guys,
As I have said oft times before, one of the principal joys of being part of this hobby and business is meeting so many of the collectors on a personal, face to face basis and spending time talking and listening to their thoughts, ideas and suggestions.

On my last visit down under I was fortunate to meet up with so many great collectors and toy soldier enthusiasts including Rob (UKReb) and his lovely Missus and Rob's son Paul at Howard Wood's emporium just outside Melbourne.

It's always fun and enjoyable to talk with Rob, we've often met before at the London Show, and hear some of his future plans as well as what he may want K&C to produce.

This latest little gem on the 'Wild Bunch' is one of his finest! Simple but effective and a true 'homage' to a great movie and, I hope, a great little K&C set...Beautifully and creatively exquisite!

Now Rob, how about a 'Lonesome Dove' setup..?

Very best wishes to yourself and the whole Jones Family...Andy.

Amazing conversions and copy of the movie scene. One of my favorite movies BTW. My sombrero is off to you. Chris
