The shape of the bases is the giveaway. These are by Comet, an American maker who started up in 1938 or 1939. Comet sold its toy soldiers under the brand, "The Brigadiers". When we entered WWII, Comet wrangled a contract to make identification models for the government, and so, stayed in business when other makers had to curtail their output or even close when lead and tin were declared strategic materials. After the war, Comet resumed production as Authenticast, with sculpting done by the great Holger Erickson.
These particular figures are "E800 Black Watch" in Comet's catalog.
