Hi all,

I've been having a lot of fun with K&C's Imperial Japanese and esp. appreciate the recent USMC release (which got me into the Pacific Theater). Looking forward to the Alligator and other additions by K&C.

This is certainly not as elaborate as Steve's Custom Tarawa Landing or Harrie's Diorama In Progress, but in the spirit of the old Marx battlefield sets, here is my tabletop battlefield with a "few pieces on the way". I'm having lots of fun setting up the USMC as they engage the Imperial Japanese. A most excellent theme!

Looks great and I'm liking the HA GO tank, I may need to save up my pennies for one of those myself !
Like you Rob alas I don't have much space for dioramas or permanent display on the table top !
Now Robin I think could do a whole island and landing fleet and still have room and I'm looking forward to when he does his take on WW2 USMC landings!

Thanks Steve - appreciate the feedback. I had read that another Ha Go will be offered with a closed hatch - may need a pair of these little tanks. Purchasing an all-new theme is certainly pricey (do not want to add up what I have spent in the last few months). It is fun though and I think we'll see some other nice additions to this theme.

Did the USMC have Halftracks in Tarawa or during this era? Would love one if they did! In any case, still building the diorama with all of K&C's excellent pieces.

I'm sure we'll see other great dios as you mentioned. More pictures of my own coming soon.

You're welcome Rob I always enjoy viewing your photos !

Yes, collecting soon adds up especially when a new line comes out like this USMC one !

Afraid I can't tell you whether half tracks were at Tarawa. Even if they weren't I expect they will have been used somewhere in the War in the Pacific !

Looking good, Rob.

I just got back from 7 days in Chicago where I was becoming a fixture in the King and Country room. (Andy was kind enough not to toss me out ... {sm4})

I saw all the new USMC sets and I can not say enough good things about the sculpt, the paint and the poses that we will be seeing. I picked up the first set and will be getting a another set of the (FIRST) release as dollars permit.

THEN ... I believe we will see the second set released this coming month.

I also have some of the JN Japanese sets. They will be opposing the landing and fighting a losing cause as the battle rages further into the sands of Betio as the USMC struggles for each inch.

The diorama that Andy and K&C did for the Chicago room, showing the USMC landing at Tarawa, was truly amazing.
I took some pictures and will (TRY .. :redface2:) to match it. But how does one match a master artist .... :rolleyes2: like Gordon and the K&C builders.

Once I recover from my 11 day trip I will be starting my Tarawa diorama. I hope that it will come out as great as yours.

Hi, you have a great Diorama there. It's nice to see that so much collector started working on one War in the Pacific diorama.
I think Andy can start the engine for even more Marines and of course more Japanese for the defense of the islands.

Hi Rob,

your diorama looks wonderful. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of space for large dioramas, just like Steve but if I'd had it... I would have made the same thing!!!

Cheers

Thanks Larry - must of been really cool to visit the K&C room - would love to see all the pieces up-close.

Thanks much Harrie - I'm sure we'll see more.

Thanks Enrico - space always seems to be a factor; but that's okay, it makes it fun.
