Does anyone have a good to source for 1/30 or 1/32 wood shakes?

Thanks

Re: Wood Shakes - WOOD SHINGLES

It's another word for a wooden shingle.

You can make your own for those scales out of balsa. I made some like that, years ago. I got a long sheet of balsa, cut across the grain in strips, then cut with the grain to make the individual shingles. It's time-consuming, to make them, then to apply them, one by one.

Prost!

But a shake is rough cut. A rough cut wood shingle.

I've never seen any wood shingle that wasn't a rough cut. Even commercially-produced cedar shingles are referred to as "shakes". The technique I described to cut them from balsa will still produce the desired result.

Prost!

Gentlemen,

Thank you for all the discourse and tips on wood shingles and shakes (sounds like an Elvis song; "Shingles and Shakes"). Love this Forum.

I apologize for not being more clear. I do agree your technique is a good way to create them.

At least when I Google it, I see some organizations or explanations distinguishing between clean cut wood shingles and rough cut.

I have a shed that has rough cut wood shingles on top of smoother ones. It seems it is a degree of roughness and the type saw used to cut them.

Not an expert, just a Googler with a shed I can look at. I might be able to take pictures to show the difference.

Ha ha, roof shingles has been a talking point on this forum since it started, not something you see in Australia, except in really old photos.
