Things that I really like (2 Viewers)

The Bruins salvaged an otherwise horrible Boston sports night last night, beating the Sabres 2-1 in OT to extend the series, the Red Sox got shut out by Toronto and the Celtics.....................

They blew a 13 point 3rd quarter lead, went an incredible 0 for their last 14 shots in the game and lost, now they have to go on the road for a game 6.

White has been brutal in this series, can't put the basketball in the ocean from the beach, Embid went off last night, zero answers for him on defense.

In previous playoff match ups between these two teams, when the Celtics were up 3-1 on the 76ers, they were undefeated/76ers had never won a game 5.

Until last night; so much for that stat.

They had better close this out tomorrow night; and if they don't and go on to blow the series, the sun will rise, the sun will set and I'll have lunch.

The Lakers motto is "if you are going to lose, then lose big." Everyone looked awful last night except for Ayton who has otherwise looked awful in this series. LeBron looked his age for once. The turnovers were brutal. OCK will beat them by 1000 points if they continue with that. Onward to LA.
How about Kennard...lol...31 minutes...0-6 from the field...scored 1 point on 2 free throws...
I would have rather had Bronny in there...even as bad as he is...
at least Reaves looked healthy...
gonna go 7 now...

If Houston can shoot threes like that, the Lakers are in trouble. I don't think they can keep that up. Ayton was the only guy on the Lakers who played well. Smart was awful. Kennard was awful. Too many turnovers again and they couldn't hit the threes.

Lakers were in trouble...are in trouble and will stay in trouble...I'm happy with where they are now...I think there will be a Game 7 and I think the Lakers will win it...but it doesn't matter other than I would be glad to see them advance and then they are gonna get crushed by OKC...would like to see Luca in at least one playoff game though...I am glad there is another Lakers fan on here who can feel my pain and converse enthusiastically about them....

"Section 24220 of the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (Thanks Biden) requires the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to issue a standard for all new 2026 and beyond passenger vehicles to include 'advanced impaired driving prevention technology.'
This passive system detects if a driver is impaired (e.g., blood alcohol concentration at or above 0.08% or poor driving performance) and prevent or limit the vehicle from operating."

Imagine this BS "kill switch" causing your vehicle to shut down in life-threatening emergencies, such as a woman fleeing an attacker or an injured person racing for help.

So if it's snowing and I am all over the road, will it shut down? Or if I'm speeding?

Why is this in the "things I like" thread?

Because my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I am leasing will be THE last vehicle I ever have, once the lease is up, I'm buying it and that's all she wrote.

What next; getting tracked as to where you go, where you drive, how far you drive?

Again; thanks Biden.

So this will disable people whacked out on drugs...or 3 times over the legal limit of alcohol from driving a car? 30% of all wreck fatalities are attributed to drug/alcohol impaired drivers. I love this. Make their stoned butts take an Uber. Don’t know what the percentage of people in life-threatening emergencies, such as a woman fleeing an attacker or an injured person racing for help are, but I doubt it surpasses 1/3 of all fatalities due to intoxicated drivers.

Henry Ford should of done this in 1896…Bravo Biden!!!

I think because the other thread was 86'd.
I think because the other thread was 86'd.
86'd...

I owned a restaurant for 28 years...we used that term a lot...
the only connotation it meant to me was...we are out of that product...or that customer is not allowed in here anymore...

"86 the red snapper...86 the oysters on the half shell...that guy is 86'd...he's been a problem in the past"...

I'm out on watching the Celtics anymore this year; enough is enough.

They have no answers for Embid, Maxey and George.................Queta is a foul waiting to happen, Vuc is a traffic cone on defense, Embid backs into either of them and hits his shot over and over and over, or he kicks out to Maxey and George, who either hit a 3 or drive to the basket.

Tatum "tweaked" his left calf, the same leg that he blew his achilles out on, I would not put him out there, not worth it.

Even if by some miracle they win game 7, the Knicks are waiting and I've seen that movie before.

They had a nice season without Tatum for most of it, but all good things come to an end.

Best of luck to Mike and Doug and their Lakers, they should win at home and advance.

The Celtics are on their way to Cancun.

thanks on the well wishes...but even of the Lakers can win 1 of their 2 last games to advance...OKC will absolutely crush them...will only take them 4 games to send them to the golf course...

Boston will win the series...at home for the final game...they will rain 3 pointers from half court and further...they got that one George...you're good...

They're 1-2 at home is this series, they have less than no HCA.

They're done, stick a fork in them, the #7 seed advances.

Not sure why teams like the Celtics go all in during the season to win as many games as possible; just do what the 76er's did, burp and fart through the season, finish play off eligible, then flip a switch and win a series.

If after watching this video and anyone thinks this is still a good idea, I give up.

I get it about the drunk driving/on drugs scenario, but there are too many variables/things that can go wrong with this.

Mike, the biggest problem with the Celtics the past two years is their issues stem from taking their foot off the gas with a big lead.

Up 63-50 in Game 5 and they started playing with their food, they let the Sixers get in rhythm and get confident and the momentum has shifted to the 76er's.

Last year vs the Knicks, they blew not one but two back to back 20 plus point leads, went down 0-2 at home, won game 3 in NY, then Tatum blew out his achilles and that was that.

Leave it to Embid to play out of his mind since coming back in this series; the Celtics need to go right at him on offense, get him running around on defense and either tire out or commit lazy fouls, on offense, the Celtics have no one who can stop him in the paint.

If they lose this series, I think it's time to break up the J's...............they've won a whopping one championship together, they should have won at least two and probably three, if I'm the GM, I listen to offers on Brown.

I think you're in good shape George...I would truly be surprised if they lost a clutch game at home...it fact I expect a blowout by the Celts as they are at home and should be HIGHLY MOTIVATED...

now here's a stat below that I don't like...that old "live and die by" stat...but it has been successful for them...until shots aren't dropping...

The Boston Celtics are the NBA team that shoots the most 3-pointers, leading the league in both attempts and makes during the 2024-25 season, averaging roughly 50 attempts per game. They broke the single-season team record for 3-pointers made and often hold the highest volume in recent, high-paced games.

They live by the three, they die by it, feast or famine.

They have players who can play from all three levels, but all they seem to do is throw up threes.

When they aren't falling they keep shooting them, the theory is sooner or later they'll go in.

That's BS; try something different, take the ball to the basket...........although they tried that early last night..........and missed four lay ups in a row.

Beyond frustrating.

In a perfect world it would be great...while I'm not arguing for it...and don't want it on my car...
1/3 of the auto fatalities caused by inebriated drivers is a HUGE NUMBER...too big to ignore...

I had a friend in my early 20's...lost touch with him many years ago...he was t-boned by a truck while he was driving his fiberglass Corvette...
my friend lived...but he was a paraplegic...the driver of the truck was skunk drunk and went to prison...
everybody knows a story like this...

I see many down sides to new car technology...
Tesla's can't handle a railroad crossing...
auto steering/auto emergency braking on some cars...
I don't want those on my car...
but don't turn my car off...
if I'm in a jam...I'm gonna run you over to escape...
maybe instead of an auto kill button...the headlights would flicker on and off...
maybe a piercing siren to alert people to get away from you...
I don't know...

gotta be a better system than I'm stranded and at the mercy of...

I saw a movie the other night...of an irate girl in a driverless cab...in a congested drop off lane...
she super glued an orange traffic cone to a driverless cab's engine hood...
locked the doors and walked away...
the car blocked traffic behind her as the car didn't know what to do...moving up one inch at a time then stopping...

These aren't cars/vehicles anymore, they are rolling computers.

They are all incredibly expensive to own and operate; no more mechanics popping open the hood and telling you what is wrong, now they plug in a module that reads out what is needed to be done.

When we got that monster storm back in February, my jeep looked like an igloo............I cleaned it off and tried to back it out of my spot; it kept locking up, wouldn't let me back up...............over and over and over..............cleaned it thoroughly, no dice..........I let it sit in the sun, whatever ice/snow was sending a signal to the computer and wouldn't let me back up was gone and I was finally able to move it.

I rented a brand new cargo van to go pick up a collection in MD back in November, did a 8 hour idiot run down, loaded the van and 8 hours back.............on the way home, I kept getting a message on the dashboard.............."Tired/need to pull over for a coffee break?".........What? No, I wasn't tired, I was driving 16 hours round trip, but what gives? If this new system was in place, would the van have shut off on me? And how exactly does that work, I'm zipping along going 70MPH and what, it just shuts off??

I blame BOTH Republicans and Democrats for this nonsense; if this goes through and it looks like it will, I WILL NOT buy another new car for as long as the kill switch mechanism is installed in the vehicle, no way, no how.

Could be a new business to get into; disabling the kill switches.

yea...they beat up on the hapless #8 seed Suns...

but wait until the mighty Lakers get a hold of them...:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Mike:

I’d say the #8 Suns are about equal to a Rockets team without Durant. ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

But seriously, and aplogies if this has been asked before, but don’t you live a few hours from Houston?

How did you end up a Lakers fan?

-Jason

Jason...

why did I become a Laker's fan?

I fell in love with the razzle dazzle fast paced offense in the early 80's that came to be known as "Showtime"...

I had never seen anything like it before in the NBA...everybody running full speed...
Cooper inbound pass Worthy...he would pass Wilkes...who would pass to Magic who would pass behind his back to Jabbar...then a dunk...

nobody even dribbled the ball...the ball never even touching the court floor...never saw anything like that before in my life...
that run and gun...flashy...high speed offense just amazed me...

I loved watching their championship games against the Celts...76ers and Pistons...

to me...those 80's Championship games between the Lakers and Celts were the unparalleled standard and epitome of great basketball to me....

I even named one of my dogs Magic... ;)

Never have been a Rockets fan even though Toyota Center is only 1 hour from my house...

In Texas...you pick your teams...basketball/baseball/football...

I live close to Houston...but am not a Texan's fan...I'm a Cowboy guy...

I was born in Dallas and went to SMU...but am not a Ranger's fan...I'm an Astro's guy...

never cared for the Mav's either...
