Does anyone else look at new King and Country models that are just out and think to themselves "Wow!" and then have a huge smile on their face...

Then you look at the prices for the items and your face drops into a pol of misery:(With your smile now upside down!

I hate it!:eek::mad:

I understand that yes the detail in K&C figures is quite superior to any other manufacturer, however the prices are killing us collectors:eek::(

It's hard to think that at one time 4 figures from the King and Country D-day 44 Range used to be £74.00 odd, now 3 figures cost £100 odd!!!!!!! This is ridicolous!:eek:
I know that we are in a money crisis situation but surely the prices for such figures should be remaining within 3 or 5, maybe even 10 pounds more than the cost that they would have been before this "Credit Cruch"! not about £25 more!

I can understand the cost of the larger items, like the Jetty, which I think is one piece which is under priced considering the size of this magnificent piece, but I think the cost of the new Landing craft is a particularly fair price, and I applaud King and Country for this amazing piece and fair pricing!

I'm even getting my loft done up so that I can display my King and Country figures as they should be displayed, so that they are out in all their glory, but I'm beginning to wonder if I will be collecting King and Country long enough to use up even half the space that will be available to use, or will these prices force me to stop collecting and focus on other areas of hobby and life??:confused:

I'm not trying to slag off King and Country or anything, I mean they are my favourite company, and they were the first company that I ever bought any figures from, and in fact it was the pictures of two of their polystone original Warbirds on the front page of a Toy Soldier and Model Figure magazine which made me find out about this hobby, and meet all the wonderful friends I have in this hobby:D
I just think the prices these days are a little out of hand, but then what do I know I'm just a kid, I just wanted to get my points and views across:)
Thanks for reading friends, and I hope you are all doing well and don't take my little argument as too much of a big thing!

Thanks:)

Same with me mate..i agree 100%, now i'm focusing on old figures like the early FOB and AK..but i know first or later i must tackle the new 8th Army or complete the 1917 brits and then there's that wonderful LCA..i hope irrealistically that the price will go down a bit..but it's only a hope..

I'll answer that with a light heart, since K&C is not making new Barbarians anyway and then I have felt no impact from the rising prices.
;)

Yes, K&C toy soldiers are getting more and more expensive. Yes, they were much cheaper years ago when I bought my Barbarians.

I can't tell you why they are getting more expensive. Is it plain greed, the poor economy scenario, or something else I can't even imagine? I don't know.
:confused:

Cheers...

I starting collecting K&C because of there market garden range but fill let down with the lack of new stuff for that range & have started buying Dragon 1/35 armour with Oryon 1/35 soldiers witch is a lot better value for money & with the money I'm saving I'm buying j g miniatures diorama ::)

I though of doing the very same Uksubs,

How do they go together?

I agree prices are inching up, and the hobby certainly can get quite expensive. That said it certainly is a wonderful time to be able to pick and
choose exactly what you like.

I remember just a few years ago when King & Country had a much smaller
selection, and there were fewer manufacters.

I have always been impressed with JG Miniatures display items, one of these days I am going to breck down and buy a few pieces, they really look terrific.

I also really liked Andy's idea's reguarding his new Jetty!

Looks like I'm going to have to start caddying again to raise $$$$:eek::D

I hate to tell you guys,

but it's not just K&C.:confused::confused::confused:

so don't feel like they are picking on you, ;););)

All the figures are going up.

I recall there was a long discussion about this once before. The bottom line is the manufacturer contends that the cost of business is rising in China. My guess is the market will adjust if prices are too high and nothing is selling. What gives me heartburn is that so many great products are available, but there is no way to buy everything. No longer realistic to be a completist in most cases unless you really narrow down the want list.

I have found this to be true in my case.I am completist by nature but its just not possible anymore,cherry picking is not easy when you want it all.

Not only that but where do you put everything! Cabinets for the toy soldiers totes for the boxes. Aw the totes! I am running out of room to store totes! Display cabinets are not cheap if you want a nice one to display all your collection. Not only is the hobby expensive but the displaying and storage and up keep can cause a headache! Oh well I am still happy when the doorbell rings and the mailman is standing there with boxes!

Your not alone. I feel the same way about the prices. But my problem is I collect to many ranges and I got to draw the line some place, its just hard with all the great stuff out there.I have considered selling some stuff of, thou I have not really made up my mine yet on what.

True most things in the hobby world have gone up, autoart & minichamps keep raising prices that are getting real expensive, you are better off trying to stick to a theme, atleast k&c seem to hold their value, so thats a good thing!

I'm not sure the primary market will adjust if prices are too high and less is selling.

I don't think it's that high yet.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Things will sell at these prices.

I do believe the secondary market will adjust.

The double, triple, quadruple, :eek::eek::eek:

Ebay sales just won't move at those inflated prices,

except,

to "the privelaged",

because money is not an issue to them anyway.

There are some people that just have the resources to do whatever they want at whatever it costs.

That's just life, in my opinion.

It's just an opinion.:):):)

Being retired I have cut back on most metal except Jenkins and Redcoats. I spent the weekend working on 1/35 scale Dragon figure kits. I found myself going back to modeling the Tamiya and Dragon kits. Leadmen

Ditto on that one brother.:(

Aaaaaaaaaaah yes,

The doorbell,

I salivate like Pavlov's dogs when I hear it.:D:D:D

I limit myself to WWII (mostly armour) with just enough soldiers and buildings to fill in. Because of space and cost, I have shrunk that even more to Afrika Korps, 8th Army, Battle of the Bulge, D-Day + Waffen SS, Fields of Battle and the Russian pieces. That means no Iwo Jima (except the Japaneese tank) and no Market Garden. I would love to collect Napoleon and WW1, but buying even one "nice" piece from a new range would open the floodgates (although I will get the K&C WW1 tank).

Willpower!!!:(

Boo loves to hear the deliveryman coming! You would never know he is ten

years old!

As the driver beats a hasty retreat down the drive Boo likes to go outside to

his run and warn the neighborhood. He has this great spinning bark! He hops

up and spins around in a circle as he barks! Its most impressive when you

consider his 135lb size!

It usually distracts the wife while I secure the booty!:D

For figures, I only collect glossy figures, but K&C vehicles just can't be beaten, I only wish I started buying K&C vehicles earlier, my first tank was the Tunsian Tiger and I have been buying them ever since. The Landing Craft is on the list.:D

This is the way I limit myself and try to stay within my imanginary budget :eek:, but sometimes when it comes to TS self control is very hard.

I do sympathize with you Arnhem44mad. Perhaps you're not as young as you think. Afterall soon you can say to a new generation of collectors....."Sonny I remember when $89USD could buy you four figures". Seriously though, prices go up and thats reality. For most of us it just either means we pony up more or become more choosy. One peeve I have is due to K&C product being denominated in USD very often the exchange rate kills me, I know my Aussie and Kiwi cousins out there know what I mean.:eek:
