Wellington:

Lets chat for a moment on Napoleonic's - It is also my favorite line in the K&C product lines.

I have been working on an Enlish Square with my Black Watch and have the French Dragoons bearing down on them. I will have photos soon.

Do you know of anyone who can sell me the old Dragoon Line of :
NA 45, NA 41 and NA 46 ???? Any ideas???

Thanks, Ron

Thanks - I will. Trying to get caught up on the older Napoleonics - missed the early stuff. :)

Sorry I don't have the answer for that one...I would continue to check E-Bay.

We need more Napoleonics - don't you agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:)

Ron,

My heart says, "Yes!." My bank balance says, "Not so fast!" :D

Is it possible to exercise a little patience for some of us who are still trying to catch up on this great line? ;)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

I agree about the Bank $$$$ stress of our hobby - but, to say there is too much King & Country Napoleons is like saying: 1) there is too much beer here 2) there are too many 20 year old women in wet t-shirts here 3) there are too many football & baseball games to go to - see my point?

There can never be too much :D

More Regards, Ron

Andy:

What about additional Napoleonics like:

1) Austrian, Russian and Spanish Rebels??

2) Winter French vs. Winter Russians ??

3) French Egyptian Campaign Troops??

4) French Artillery and British Artillery pieces - separates??

5) More Indivdual Napoleon Figures??

These are just ideas - you are the man when it come to the actual production. :)

No pressure - just thinking out loud :D

Ron,

Oh, I understand your point and I agree with you about the financial stress that we let ourselves experience. And,...I really, really love the Napoleonics, but I never said there were too many K&C Napoleonics. I only meant to imply that if new issues come too quickly, then many of us find it difficult to keep pace. I simply prefer a slower, more thoughtful, rate of issue that allows the average collector to have ample time to purchase what he/she wants from a particular line. If new issues come too often, then retirements occur at an increasing rate. For the most part, I like the rate of new issues that King and Country usually follows. If we simply wait patiently, Andy almost always comes up with great new issues.

But, remember,...I never said there were too many King and Country Napoleonics.

Pat

I agree we dont want to flood the market - but, I find myself in between releases - don't you think besides the Grenadiers we could open a new Opponent or Ally in the Napoleonics - Like Austria, Russia, Prussia or Polish or a mixture of loyal French European Foot Soldiers.

One thing that could be interesting to do is to have limited edition FOOT SOLDIERS in the Napoleonic period. Especially in poses that would make you collect a lot of the same figure (Standing at Attention or Firing) - this way you expand the range - keep the speciality of a limited edition figure to make it desireable to have and keep the price low - like around $26 bucks - it a new approach but this period leans itself to several great uniformed figures.

BIG SALE IDEA HERE!!

Andy has done a great job with the Horse Figures - I have my own Ranch now in Washington just to keep up. Foot Soldiers also do better in shipping and less breakage too.

Again - I am one of Andy's biggest fans - this is just idea, not a demand.

This is such a wonderful period of Military History - the UNIFORMS were outstanding and so many different Armies had men in the field. It could be a real $$$$$ winner for everyone and especially the new people who are starting to collect.

Those are my thoughts, Ron

Hi Ron,

Yes, there is always room for new opponents or new allies, but I would prefer that they be introduced slowly. Doing so always heightens the anticipation!

In some ways, I like your suggestion of limited edition foot soldiers. However, if the more affluent collectors buy large quantities of them for their collections and dioramas, what is left for the average collector? Also, if it is assumed that they would be purchased in large numbers by fewer collectors, what would you consider to be a reasonable "limited" production of these items? Nevertheless, it is an interesting thought.

I agree about the variety of Napoleonic era uniforms. They are great. However, if you like variety of uniforms, colors, etc., you may want to give serious consideration to exploring the huge variety of Medieval Knights that are produced by the St. Petersburg manufacturers. They are truly magnificent!

Pat

But Knights are not the same are they? The colors are magnificent, true, but they are too far in the past. It is harder to relate on several points. Knights were aristocracy. The napoleonic soldiers were more common. Also, the weaponry is more identifiable. I collect because I somehow wish to be a part of and identify with the soldier. Don't get me wrong armour fascinates me just can't seem to identify with it.

Hi KV,

I understand your perspective and I, too, enjoy the figures of the more recent soldiers. I think some of my interest in the knights results from seeing some of the parallels that exist between the Crusades and our most recent military conflicts in the Middle East. Significant differences in ideologies and religion continue to persist today and they seem to continue to help form a foundation for warfare which is not totally unlike those of the Middle Ages.

The Napoleonic figures are terrific. I cannot seem to acquire enough of them. Come to think of it, I cannot seem to acquire enough figures of any age that I collect! :D

I really think you can still make a limited edition of 1250 - restrict number person purchase - that why everyone gets a shot at the CF Foot Solider and it increase the value 300% more than any other $200 item out there now.

On St. Petersburg - they are nice - but, I AM A KING AND COUNTRY MAN!!

Great talking with you - now we need to get Andy on board......:D

KV and Pat

The Knight Figures are really great - I agree with Pat that the politics of today drives my desire for them now. Great Stuff.

Ron,

Your idea of restricting the number of strictly limited foot figures a collector is able to buy is interesting. How would you regulate a person's purchasing? If the puchaser's limit were, for example, a total of five figures, what would prevent that person from buying 5 figures from dealer A, another 5 from dealer B, another 5 from dealer C, etc., etc.?

If you truly believed that the rate of return on your investment was going to be 300%+, one collector with ample funds could buy up several hundred of these figures by simply preordering from dozens of dealers. Again, the average collector becomes stuck with no figures or he must pay the highly inflated prices that would be found on the secondary market. In short, everyone would not necessarily get a fair shot at adding the strictly limited figures to his/her collection at the originally released price.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

I collect for myself and I hate the limited editions. To me it just means higher prices that I have to pay for figures that I,ll never get a resale value for because I do not intend to sell.
I hate the whole retirement thing also and wish they made each figure by the ton to bring the price down not up.
I collect napoleonics and for a good diorama you need lots of figures because these were huge battles with 100,000-300,000 men on the field at times in huge lines colums and squares and the limited edition/early retirement B.S. dosn,t help my collecting at all.
Most of you guys also have no intension of ever selling your collections also but still buy into this limited edition B.S. and I can,t understand why??? To me it just means I have to pay more and have to worry about buying that figure or set before its retired and I have to buy it from some Ebay scalper who is going to over charge me for it.
The Ebay guys and the manafactures are the only ones making out on the deal!!!

I don,t know why you guys buy into this!!! It reminds me of something I once heard a comedian say ( women will buy shoes just so other women can,t have them).
Thats just my take on the whole limited edtion thing!!!!
