After watching the Polish 1959 film "Lotna"; I thought it would be interesting if K&C would expand its Fields of Battle line to cover early war polish troops. You could add Polish cavalry, anti tank guns or tanks/tankettes. The tanks would interesting due to size which should keep costs down. You could recreate the famous (so called) cavalry charge at Krojanty on the first day of the German invasion, 1 September 1939 as well. I am sure if K&C could do obscure units such as The 13th Waffen SS Mountain Division “Handschar” why not Poles... I can already see K&C debunking the polish charge in their Collector magazine... In terms of competition, I think only del prado did a single mounted and un-mounted 18th lancer so not a lot of competition in the matte arena. It would also complement K&C build out of early war germans.....

The Poles would go great with all of the new German Wehrmacht releases. The question in hand would be.......How popular would the polish sets be with other collectors.
Speaking for myself I would be interested in having some produced .

I would be interested in a PZL P-7 or P-11 fighter aircraft. -- Al

It was talked about years ago when FOB first came out but nothing came of it.

I tend to think that nowadays it would do well. The toy soldier market is beholden to history and it is one area of WWII that remains untapped.

But nowadays KnC Horse+Figure is at US$125 (only slightly cheaper than a small Armor Vechicle) and say to make this scense of 10 horses will cost the collector US$1250 :)

20 horses will be $2500

30 horses will be $3750 {sm3}

Maybe ... :rolleyes2: ... Andy would consider a few Metal but make a bigger % of the horse/rider in the new Plastic mode????? Although I am not sure if that experiment was a success or not!!:confused:

After all, wasn't that the intent of the plastic option?
Or am I suffering from pre-coffee syndrome ... {sm2}

K&C had stated originally the intent of FOB series was to focus on the less popular/traditional/commercial theatres of WWII. I think the Polish campaign would fall into that category but with the new economic realities dominating the industry I'm not sure how successful this venture would be commercially.........I think its interesting but its a long shot.

Would love to see a Polish Army series !! Think it would do really well...Anything that is unexplored is worth doing IMHO...

The Del Prado Polish Cavalry 1/30 are decent...Been thinking about buying a couple more & the repainting the horses differently !

Yes, I would love this Polish series. Even though the flesh versus steel setting is not historically accurate. It will rejuvenate the FOB series as the home front does not seem to resonate as much for some of us as when FOB had the fall of France.

Perhaps, we need more dead horses as well and broken down carts and arty carriages.

The Poles always seem to be popular.Polish Lancers of the Napoleonic Wars seem to sell pretty good.

.... but K&C never did the Polish lancers of the Napoleonic wars :( The red lancers were Dutch.

I am in complete agreement, the home front does not resonate with me either and would love to see a shift back to the continent. I doubt we will see any figures from the low countries or Norwegian campaign so the Poles are the best option assuming no return to the Fall of France. I can't see the Far East being popular as many TS companies have had limited success in he past.. I guess that is the burden of being Andy, trying to balance all the lines while ensuring profitability and keeping the core customers happy.... Hey if a competitor can do the Spanish civil war you think someone wold do the polish campaign....

Andy had indicated that he was done with the Fall of France. I have almost all of the Fall of France releases and loved that part of FoB. Although well done, I have not found the subsequent releases as interesting so have only purchased a couple.

Originally (and I think this goes back to 2006 or 2007 when they started the range), FOB were going to be sold as castings but apparently there was such interest in the range from collectors that K & C decided to release it as a painted range.

Although undersized, the Char B tanks are some of the best tanks K & C ever made. If not the best, they're some of my favorites ^&cool

Not quite done. Especially after the 38(t) and 35(t). Andy did promise me a few years ago to do a Somua and said he personally would love to do one. That would complete the coverage of the main French tanks. I'd rather see a Somua before the Polish tanks. Especially one with the unique "layer cake" camo

Absolutely - bring on the Poles ASAP. They were the 4th Ally after all (fighting in France 1940, North Africa, Italy, North-west Europe 1944-45 and on the Eastern Front with the Soviets). In 1939 they held off both the Germans and Soviets almost as long as the BEF and French manged in 1940. As a previous poster said they would nicely complement early war Germans and I'm sure go down well in Poland (and be a much more worthy choice of model than the Handschar)!

In fact Andy has produced at least one Polish figure - a 1939 infantryman as a special figure for those attending an event at one of the North American shows some years ago.
