1. The Ordnance Rifle was made of wrought Iron not cast which made it much less brittle like the Parrot which was prone to explosions especially in the larger sizes.

5. Powder charges were bagged in cloth (usually linen). After the gun was fired it had to be sponged out to extinguish any burning residue left in the bore so as not to ignite the next charge.
