Would the naval brigade of the Sudan period have been similarly dressed as in the Zulu war period some decade between them?

Hi Nathan and 1879Fanatic,

Very nice Naval set.Little Legion I presume?
British involvement in the Nile/Sudan was at its heaviest around 1882-1898 and around this time the Naval contingent were using the same Navy blue jackets and straw hats but had lighter coloured trousers, as armament the had added to the existing drum fed gatling the Gardner/Nordenfelt ( see photo in our album ). The bad part was that the Gardners jammed even more than the gatlings. When depicting these campaigns I prefer the Maxims , specially scenarios with the 1st Royal Irish Fusiliers, they really wiped Mahdi followers once things started going well for the Brits. But if you are looking into depicting the early stages of the campaign and even the early part of the British intervention in Eygpt stick to the gatlings and Gardners....
Congrats on the set.
