The one thing I remember about this movie (and drives me nuts) is in the shot of the Russian fighters approaching they are MIG21s. But when they fly over they are F4 Phantoms. Apparently, the Russians invented F4 disguise kits. BTW, Borgnine is not killed, only wounded. His fate is not provided...

Life is Good at the Beach

We bought the Playmobile castle and fort sets for our sons when they were young. After they outgrew them, we put the sets away in the attic. Now they're the grandkids' favorite toys and they always ask me to build them when they visit. Amazingly, we still have most of the parts.

    Rethinking our offensive

Great dio! That's look on the driver's face. "Mein Gott! Where are they sending me now?"

    New Forum Look

Julie, Having been webmaster for several corporate and non-profit sites, I know that running a site is much harder (and expensive) than it looks. I think TF does a great job in providing this FREE service to collectors. I use the site daily with no issues or complaints. Please keep up the good...

    WW2 Comic's

The main thing I remember about Sgt. Rock was he blew up Tiger tanks by firing through their vision ports. Ah, the naivety of youth! I also had a huge stash of the very early Marvels, like the first 50 or issues of Spidey, FF, Thor, Iron Man, etc. Then one day in my teens I decided I was too old...

    Things that annoy me

Maybe they want someone to catch them in case they keel over? :) My gym complaint is people who get on a piece of equipment, do one set of reps, then whip out their cell phone and read it for 10 minutes before doing another set. I know you have to let your muscles recover after a set, but one...

    US destroyer almost killed Roosevelt

Supposedly Hap Arnold turned to Ernie King and asked, "Tell me Ernest, does this happen often in your Navy?" King was not amused.

    Movie/TV News

Like in Sink the Bismarck, the German Admiral Lutjens is portrayed as a fanatical Nazi who thought the ship was unsinkable. He was actually anti-Nazi and would give the Naval salute instead of the Nazi salute. And he didn't think the Bismarck had much chance of survival.

Nearly all of it is deferred. An interesting structure. He is paid $2 million/year for the length of the contract (He gets much more than that in endorsements.) After 10 years, he gets $68 million/year for the next 10 years. From sale of his merchandise, the Dodgers should have plenty of money...

    Things that annoy me

I agree it's ridiculous the amount of time local TV stations devote to weather. Just tell me what it's going to do tomorrow, not 10 days from now. I've always thought that DFW stations should just cancel weather reports during summer. It's going to be hot and dry. See you in October!

    Napoleon. Ridley Scott

I have an old Chinese import DVD of Waterloo. The sub-titling is hilarious. Ney is always referred to as "Admiral." One character gives this long speech, which sub-titles show as only "We will win!" IMHO, Plummer does a good Wellington. Steiger is uneven as Napoleon. I like his quieter moments...

Media baseball "experts" are saying the ratings will be in the pits. Course, these "experts" also picked the "Dodgers, I mean the Orioles, I mean the Astros, I mean the Phillies" to be there. Sure sounds like there a lot of butt-hurt experts today. I'll be watching my Rangers, which is all...

    digital data base for collectors

Here's a screen shot. The Photo column has a cross-reference link to a photo of the figure, which is stored in the same folder as the spreadsheet. Clicking it displays the photo. I'm not perfect at keeping this up and forget from time to time to add a figure. Adding a label to the base would...

    digital data base for collectors

I use an Excel spreadsheet. It has columns for the bin # where the empty box is stored, manufacturer, item number, item name, cost, # of figures in the set, and a link to a photo of the item, which I store on my laptop. That way I can sort it as needed. From time to time I total up the costs...

    article: LCS---Little Crappy Ship

They could have upgraded the Perry class frigates for $50 million each and gotten another 15 years from them. Bu the Navy brass said "Nooooo. We need these new littoral ships. They will be so effective and save us money in crew costs." Then a few years ago the Navy admitted that LCS were useless...
