These kinds of figures have never been used with any Trophy ships. Grey bases were usually used for North-West Frontier / Afghanistan figures, and sometimes with Sudan sets.
The red circular badge with a light-colored (likely white) figure strongly resembles the St. Andrew cross motif associated with the Cameron Highlanders.
As with any military maneuver, there’s always the risk of casualties — trust me, I’ve seen my fair share of battlefield amputations! But fear not — with a heroic drop of superglue, your brave Mameluke will be back in action and swinging his sword in no time!
I agree — Len made two versions of the gate, and the later one is definitely a bit better. I have both: one is currently sleeping somewhere in storage, and the other is sitting conveniently in a box on the shelf. I’ll post some photos when time (and motivation) permits! 😄
EL 17T Bedford Forrest Attacking Union Artillery Soldier — what a wonderful piece! I’ve always liked that one. Last time it surfaced on eBay a couple of years ago, it brought around $150… and probably a few broken hearts from underbidders. 😄
