Still too early to tell but the Sox are winning the Devers trade.

Devers did not want to be a be on the Red Sox. They traded him to the Giants.

Two things have happened since then:

1, Devers has been a bust with the Giants. He has 2 HRs and is batting .202;

2. Boston has gone 16-9 including a 10 game winning streak.

Just what Red Sox fans need; their front office/ownership doing a victory lap over dumping a future HOF player for peanuts to basically rid themselves of a ****ty contract.

They signed him to that ****ty contract because they traded away Betts when they chose not to pay him (he's a lock as a HOF player) and did not sign Bogaerts to a deal and let him become a free agent. He has been ok since he signed with San Diego, nothing great, but they couldn't let three players walk, so they overpaid to keep Devers, who's a terrible 3rd baseman and is basically a DH and hasn't even hit 30 years old yet.

Great for the RS that they won 10 in a row; this ensures yahoos will continue to pile into Fenway, the cash register will keep ringing and all will be well.

They have the toughest 2nd half schedule in the league, highly doubt they will make the playoffs.

The Dodgers have now lost 10 of the last 12 games including six in a row to the Brewers. Still in first place, though.

They have been decimated by injuries, once they are healthy they will dominate like they did at the start of the season.

And at the trade deadline they have the money and prospects to fill any needs.

Phillies win in extra innings with a walk-off catcher's interference! When was the last time that happened? Did it ever happen before?

Prost!

1971...............good to know you can swing at a pitch that is already in the catchers mitt and draw interference on it, that's quite a feat.......and a complete load of bullshit.

And then the Phillies celebrated like they won game 7 of the World Series.

Catchers interference is apparently in the Sawx' toolbox of baseball tactics. Another one last night. If I remember the announcer's comment correctly, they have 11 already this season.

Which is why I don't watch baseball anymore, you can't stand in front of the plate/the bag, you have to get out of the way...............so the runner can steal the base/score, a complete clownshow.

My cousin texted me all torqued off; I told him to have a drink and go for a walk.

The sport is a dumpster fire, so I'm out.

Yeah, the tie-breaking changes are proof of that. First, using the ghost man for extras. Joe Torre apparently approved that one. Then for the All-Star game, the home run slug-off. What a stupid idea! But, apparently the proles like it. Baseball has been on a path for a while now, to become more like the NBA and the NHL.

I remember when ESPN discovered the footage from the old "Home Run Derby" show from the late 50s/early 60s. The millennials who were infiltrating MLB management got the idea for the circus that the All-Star Game has become from that. I'd like to smack every one of those little weasels upside the head.

But in the end, nothing we can do about it. Audiences are audiences, and if they think that watching a batter foul 10 pitches off in an at-bat, it's "good strategy", we're stuck with that Nowhere to run.

Prost!

George:

Great post.

I watch Giants games and wonder how this sport claims to make massive profits.

Teams give out hundreds of millions of dollars to players yet stadiums are empty and according to every metric they are losing millions in TV advertising because no one buys the products in those advertisements.

90% of the league is uncompetitive because of spending yet the union says they will never have a salary cap.

Worst of all, in this day and age, ESPN gave up its broadcast rights partially because MLB is a losing revenue maker when it comes to gambling.

Nailed it.

The American league is a complete joke, whoever lands in the WS will get demolished, the Tigers were pretty good for awhile, lately............they're back to being the Tigers.

The sport is boring, the league is boring, the game puts me to sleep.

And for the old timers who still love the game as it's the only one with no clock.................whoops, so much for that.

There were no catchers interference calls in the RS/Phillies game last night, so the Phillies lost, my cousin can rest easy.

But now the Dodgers come to town; Ohtani will throw a no hitter and hit 9 home runs in the series and they'll get swept.

Great to see the concession workers striking at Fenway.

I couldn’t be more anti-union than anyone but I hate corporations even more.

Aramark says they will need to raise prices to meet the workers demands while maintaining current profits.

$18 for a hot dog that costs .45 cents to make is enough to feed anyone but it falls short in feeding corporate greed.

I haven’t looked at this thread in months because people are always complaining about something other than what’s taking place on the field. I decided to look again and I was right. Don’t think I will be looking again.

Imagine the balls on Aramark claiming they need to raise prices to meet the workers demands; incredible.

As you stated, their prices are already beyond rip off, now they want more?

A high noon (my girlfriend and most of her friends drink these) costs 18.00................a four pack costs less than that.

You are complaining about people complaining?
