Thunder on the Plains
Cheyenne Warriors
Dog Soldier Society Warrior

Dec212025-X2.jpg

I believe we can expect two more Cheyenne Society warriors when all are released if JJD plans on representing their major societies.
- Still to come should be the Red Shields and the Elk Horn Scrapers/Crooked Lance societies.

Oh joy! Oh happiness! Another Cheyenne!

A "dog soldier" rider!
I'm spoiled rotten! Overjoyed! I'm euphoric!
Between "Fur Trade" and "Thunder of the Plains," my credit card is going to get a workout in 2026! I can't wait to see these creations and the others that will complement these themes throughout the year...
How many Cheyennes will John be drawing from in the series, given the number of different societies that make up this nation? That's the question...
Judging by the number of sketches presented, it's safe to say it's taking on the dimensions of the Sioux... and that's just crazy! 😍

That war mask would be very authentic for a soldier-dog... I hope John will make it because they are often found in that society...ef4156b1ae83ce441c820bc22dec737b.jpg

Oh my lordy, very happy. Not a collector of Indians but i am a collector of JJD Dog Soldiers. They are two of my favourite figures in my whole collection

The Anglo-Zulu War
Volunteers, Auxiliaries, & Irregulars
Natal Carabineers
Two Troopers

Dec222025-X2.jpg
What an incredible set this will be. The downed mounted infantryman with the Zulu is great as well. Hoping for more Auxiliaries, Irregulars and Volunteers. I’d love some more Natal Native Horse, mounted and dismounted.

Ohhh myyy lorrdddy. No we are talking. So in agreement with breaker. I am now 56 and been collecting Zulu figures since day dot. There wasnt much around back in the day, mostly kits and old style toy soldiers in gloss. I collected them and up traded when Britains, Conte, Collectors showcase and TG started making high quality Zulu War figures and then John jumped it. Love all these modern makers, John is the best. This is my point. Everyone does 24th Foot and think they have done the Zulu War but the irregulars would have been close to half the zulu war force, at least to begin with on the first invasion into Zulu land. Britains made one FFL, 3 NNC natives, 3 or 4 officers and NCO,s 4 NMP and 3, maybe 4 NatalCarbineers. CS have 4 Natal Carbineers, the other makers have one or two but now its time to do it right. We need Newcastle Mounted Rifles, mounted and dismounted NatalNative Horse and some dismounted Mounted infantry firing…. When we say we need, i mean i want them. I am already delighted with what John has made but fingers crossed

Some interesting sketchers of possible future releases, especially for those collecting the Zulu and West ranges.
Hopefully there will be many from the various ancients ranges released next year as well.

Thanks for this Julie, much appreciated by a lot of people.

Some interesting stuff highlighted, nothing in my sphere of collecting, but can still appreciate them. Looks like a bumper year for the Zulu range and lots of US releases [which is understandable, as biggest TS market, my option, well over 50% of the world TS market]. However, there is enough Jacobites to come out in 2026 and there are still gaps in my collection to keep my debit/credit card busy. Have dipped into the Settlers and Refugees [18th Century] range and collect those, will make a great single shelf diorama, may start a thread to get some advice from more knowledgeable collectors of that era/period to see if any of JJD other figures from ranges around that era/period might fit with them as well.

I am confident about the future of the Native American figures by JJD for the year 2026... A magnificent Cheyenne cavalry is being prepared and will reinforce the 35 Sioux and Crow riders from K&C, TM, and JJD, already present in my display cases.

Nice! Just when you think John is done with a series, he revisits. Looking forward to adding Brigadier Fraser and the ADC to my Saratoga collection. One more to go tomorrow! Hoping for something Napoleonic.
