Since I redid the FFL kettledrummer, I've wanted to also redo the trumpeter.

Well here he is disassembled and waiting for a makeover.

I realised that this figure was missing elements of a saddle. I could get away with it for the kettledrummer as it had a long shabraque and perhaps, that was draped over the saddle. Saddles are usually fixed on top of saddleclothes.

I removed the saddle cloth and it came off in cracked pieces. I have some great WWI French dragoon saddles refs and they show the old-fashioned Hungarian saddle construction.

So I selected a suitable Historex spare and proceeded to modify that. This was a spare which I got as a job lot off ebay with a lot of british dragoon parts....:) The saddle flaps were also trimmed down and this was attached to the horse. Notice that I had thickened the girth of this horse with an airfix base. Hence I had to shave off the sides to fit the saddle cloth.

Here's the trumpeter with rebuilt features including proposed new legs.

Rivoli looks like a long-running saga so in-between, I try to update my other numerous projects as well.

Here, I am being very careful about the pose as I have mtd figures which eventually appear lop-sided and had to be abandoned.

The figure here is being squared up on the horse and the details are slowly being added.

I decided to shorten the torso of the fig. Disassembled all the components to saw off the torso.
