To me, he’s just a mercenary. I know that to a certain extent they all are but he seems more rapacious than most. I’m not a huge fan. I might have mentioned this before but after the WS was over and they asked him about his impending free agency, instead of saying something like “this is not the...

With the way rumors are flying about this team or that team or this amount of money, no one really knows the truth. It’s all speculation.

They are basically empty words as Gaza has been bombed to smithereens. What is he going to do that the Israelis haven’t done? Send in US troops? If Israel could have rescued the hostages they would have by now; the miles and miles of underground tunnels is extensive.

I don’t believe that’s the Yankees top offer. Hal knows it’s going to take more than that. They are the team that can least afford to lose him because if they don’t re-sign him, they will have nothing to show for the trade. If the RS, Blue Jays or Mets don’t sign him there will be some initial...

“I call bullshit”. What does that even mean. The job of tax specialists is to find loopholes in the Code. That’s what they’re supposed to do. If you don’t like it, change the law. It’s as simple as that.

I understand your perspective but on one level why do fans care so much about how much a player gets paid as, after as all, it’s not our money (although ticket prices, concessions, etc. are always going up). Sports is an entertainment business and non-sports entertainers make a lot of money...

I don’t think you’re getting it. Even though LA only pays $2 million per year for 10 years, with the rest deferred, when it comes to the luxury tax, they are being assessed $46 million per year, not $2 million. Secondly, other teams do deferred comp deals and it’s expressly permitted by the CBA.

Baseball has no salary cap; they have a tax. When calculating the tax they use a pro rated portion of the total amount of the contract. Lastly, it’s not cheating because deferment is specifically allowed by the agreement with the union. It’s probably tax avoidance, which some tax experts...

$384 in 1995 is worth about $787 today so these vehicles weren’t cheap. It wasn’t until K & C went to polystone that they were able to make affordable AFVs. I have a line on one of those SAS jeeps but it may be awhile before I receive it.
