HIRIART Spanish Civil War General Staff with Franco & Astray

Brad, I am the one who characterized this set as a Staff Officers set, but it is clearly more of set featuring historically important Nationalist officers as exemplified by the inclusion of Astray, Sanjurjo, and Mola in the set.

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

This is the bottom shelf of the curio (before I add two more shelves) which has K&C panzer grey vehicles. I just counted the number of Wheels and Tracks sets that I have on display in the new curio and bookcase, at this point in time, and came up with eighty-one. One would think that I would...

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

Yikes! I didn't mean to make anyone jealous, but I just wanted to share my incredible good fortune to be able to acquire a substantial K&C collection in very short order.

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

Thanks Walt. I have to admit that I am also excited by it. This is better than Christmas for me. Mike

    Mike Tarantino's Toy Soldier Collection

Here are a few photos I took of the actual Culloden battlefield. Actually, there isn't all that much to see as it is today. Hopefully, in the future, they will ultimately add informational plaques showing the location of the Jacobite and British lines with details regarding the order of battle...

    Mike Tarantino's Toy Soldier Collection

In August, I visited the Culloden Battle Field in Scotland near Loch Ness. I bought a folder at the museum which I have used, in part, as backdrops for my Battle of Culloden Diorama with figures from John Jenkins Designs.

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

No, I can't do that! Where there is a will, there is a way. Thanks, it is called an Eden House Curio which has a two-way sliding front door. I'll never make the mistake again of buying a large curio with side openings---it is too hard to access items in the middle of the shelves.

HIRIART Spanish Civil War General Staff with Franco & Astray

Astray (and Franco) was requested by the collector who originally ordered the set. You are correct that he would not be normally associated with the Nationalist General Staff, but is none the less an interesting figure. He was the founder and first commander of the Spanish Foreign Legion and...

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

My new Pulaski curio arrived last week, so I have been in the process of moving the AFV sets from their temporary display shelves in the bookcase to the curio. The curio (80 X 43 X 16 inches) only came with five shelves, but I have ordered two additional shelves which should be ready to pick up...

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

Mark, I picked up a WS224-1 (201) in my first or second group of acquisitions. I bought the WS224-2 (202) with an eye to possibly converting it to the Hungarian, Romanian, or Slovak T-38 versions which fought on the Eastern Front. All three Axis Satellite Powers operated T-38s in panzer grey...

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

Thanks Wayne. As you said, it is great fun opening them. Now comes the hard part---where to store all those boxes. Mike

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

Terry, You are right about an Acquisitions Blitz being exciting. I have mostly succeeded in not going overboard on buying excessively pricey items. So far, I have not paid more than $200 for a set. At this point in time, I have acquired almost 100 Wheels and Tracks sets and probably the same...

HIRIART Spanish Civil War General Staff with Franco & Astray

This is the first look at a special set that I commissioned from Hiriart for four other collectors and me: ES-41 SPANISH CIVIL WAR GENERAL STAFF WITH FRANCO & ASTRAY. It should be arriving here next week from Uruguay in the fourth part of the 2109 order.

    Mike Tarantino's Toy Soldier Collection

These are three more additions to my collection: John Jenkins Peninsular War Portuguese Infantry with a JJD ruined Spanish house backdrop, King & Country Great War 1914 French Infantry with a JG Miniatures damaged French buildings backdrop, and King & Country Italian Askari with a K & C Middle...

    Mike Tarantino's Toy Soldier Collection

I have been in the process of acquiring a large number of King & Country and John Jenkins sets since May. This is my new King & Country "Remember the Alamo" display in a newly acquired bookcase. The first photo also shows my Hiriart Italian Colonial Army in Africa sets which are not new, but...

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

We recently returned from a three week vacation during August to Ireland and Scotland, so I only added one set to my collection last month. However, I had two more acquisition groups in July which I have not posted photos of as to date. Somehow, I deleted group six when I was clearing my SD...

    Scenes from the HIRIART Workshop

My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz

Chris, I also like the new Ranger sets. I also have a number of earlier D-Day sets that I am not displaying in this diorama since I am sticking with the Rangers exclusively (e.g., DD028 Casualties, DD036 Covering Fire, DD047 On The Beach A., and DD048 On The Beach B). I do also have the...
