    Making 1/72 Caissons

Thank you for your suggestions. I am very familiar with the workings of horse drawn artillery of that period. I choose not to detail these due to their small scale. I have however had great fun detailing some 1/32 plastic artillery pieces with the D-rings, implement hangers, brake chains etc. I...

Civil War Veterans in Family Tree?

Yes there is a Virginia Regimental History Series book on the 63rd. It is written by Jeffrey C. Weaver and the ISBN # is 1-56190-017-6. My father in law is from Carrroll Co. which is a neighboring county and they are related to half the county. Many many ACW vets on my wifes side of the family...

Civil War Veterans in Family Tree?

MK, you are very fortunate to have pictures of your ancestors. I'm jealous. I'm still looking for some of mine. Are you in the SCV?

Civil War Veterans in Family Tree?

Thats neat mk. Co. G was mostly from Grayson County. Just a short drive from where I live. I have walked the Chickamauga battlefield retracing the steps of the 63rd. The trail ends up on Snodgrass hill where the regiment captured the 22nd Michigan that was left as a rear guard.

Thanks Leadmen and your welcome. Has it warmed up enough up there for you to do any painting outside yet?

Poll: Are you a painter, collector, both, neither?

The things I've painted and built mean much more to me than the pre-finished figures that I've bought. I'm still not a terrific painter but I continue to improve and I enjoy it very much.

    ACW question

To answer the initial question, yes both sides used pretty much the same weaponry. The Spencer was the carbine that you could load on Sunday and fire it all week. It had a 7 shot tubular magazine that opened from the butt and there was also the longer musket version of the weapon and I loved...

Raid on the Rebel Salt Works

You don't hear a whole lot about it but Florida was most definitely a Confederate State. It was one of the early states to secede. I have seen graves of Floridians in Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. In Winchester Va.'s Confederate Cemetery there is a small section just for the Florida boys...

    Pillage the Village

There was one Conte pirate figure that I missed picking up when they were having the big sale. That was the fellow laying in the large tub. I liked that figure but never managed to get him. I'll pick him up sometime.

    Pillage the Village

Yes. The house is my creation. Popsicle sticks glued to a thin piece of styrofoam and the inside is drywall patch spread over it. The house has been a handy prop in a couple different time periods.

    Pillage the Village

Thanks Britfarmer. I had at one time layed out a small town square that the pirates could be displayed in pillaging etc but never got around to building it. I still have the plans on paper who knows, it may happen yet.

Thanks Mike. It was just a quick and dirty little set up. More like play time I guess really. Made for a fun evening and something a little different for me.
