I haven’t seen The Night of the Generals in many a year. Excellent movie. Better still was the book by Hans Helmut Kirst, who wrote many good novels from the German perspective such as Gunner Asch. Unfortunately, many of them have not been translated, as far as I know.

The figures are described on the WP site as thin intelligence personnel, which seems odd terminology. What I think they are is SD, which were the intelligence agency of the SS. I have seen a couple of photos showing the swastika being worn on the outside of the overcoat.
