Glad you got to visit the battlefield. It is a great, must-not-miss experience. The McPherson and Watkins are classic reads. I loved the Watkins. -- Al

Fantastic read. I first read it as a senior in high school in 1971 and it made a huge impression on me. Have re-read it on several occasions although it has been a while since I have done that. Sajer was an Alsatian with the Gross Deutschland Division. -- Al

    Walking dead:dead city

I watched Dead City, hanging in, hoping it would improve. Never did so i won't go back for season 2. Negan is much better/interesting as a murdering leader. I'll give Darryl a try just to find out what a back-woods redneck is doing in France... -- Al

Hey, I represent that. The Nats are hot (or what passes for hot in DC sports) right now. Todays win made #55 on the season, equaling their total from 2022. Baby steps. At least the O's have managed to stay in 1st place for more than a day, so things are going relatively well in the B/W corridor...

    Things that I really like

The 80's was about the last time the NBA was worth watching. I think I stopped watching the NBA right after Byrd and Magic retired. -- Al

    Knights of the Sky

No use for the 4-footed elephant but the Martinsyde G.100 Elephant of 1916, an RFC fighter/bomber, would be much more useful to my WW1 air corps.^&grin -- Al

Progress in DC. This weekend the Nats swept the Athletics (I know, BFD), but they did it in great style, 2 walkoff wins, including yesterdays win with 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th, to win 8-7. The noteworthy point is that for a few hours, the Nats were out of last place in the NL East for the...

    Things that I really like

Been watching it, as well. Hard to believe Wilt is so forgotten these days. He is why I watched B-ball back in the 60's. Wilt v the Celtics, seemed like every year. He made the NBA with name recognition and the unbelivable numbers he put up. In addition to his 50 point per game average one year...

This ticks me off, as well. Sort of a form of discrimination against we older sorts that don't use that technology. -- Al

The Angelos family has never been a real popular owner (think Steinbrenner or Dan Snyder) and has been sensitive to criticism since taking over the team in 1993. Peter Angelos canned Miller in '96, and now it looks like a similar situation exists with Kevin Brown and John Angelos. Brown's...

    Fran Tarkenton

LOL. Geez-geez. I can just about still name all those Colt players from the '60s teams. Shinnick, Boyd, Lyles, Cuozzo, Berry, Matte, and of course, Unitas, and so on. Sure do miss those days. -- Al

I'm going to have to look into this. Haven't been near a sports show today as it was an O's off day. I took a break and 'boom!', this happens. George, you have to be right. There must be more to this story. Never been a hint of trouble in the booth that I am aware of. -- Al

Fran drove the Colts crazy. I was always hoping Brasse or Curtis might catch him and break him in half, but they never did. ^&grin -- Al

    Things that I really like

The really ironic part of the loss is that it was Rapinoe who blew it by missing her shot in the penalty shootout, which caused a domino effect as the other team members missed their shots after hers. It was a sort of justice, considering... -- Al
