    P-38 Pilot

I vote thumbs up on anything that highlights the Lockheed "Fork-tailed Devil". Really nice shots of the beast. -- Al

    Knights of the Sky

Yep. When it comes to WW1 aircraft, John is in a class by himself. TGM makes a fine product but pricepoint is way beyond my reach. -- Al

    Knights of the Sky

The one-year mark since any aircraft and longer for new aircraft. Still hanging in, being patient (to a degree), but I am getting older by the minute and would love to see 56 Squadron and the Lafayette Escadrille before I completely age out of collecting. -- Al

Walking Dead (WARNING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS)

Yeah, this sequence did me in. Another escape story from the big, bad, city organization? No thanks. Finally find Michonne and Rick back together and we get more Rick Secret Squirrel crap with another super-villian pulling the strings. I'm done, after all these years. -- Al

Hard to find a more exciting or inspiring true life story than "Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors". The battle off Samar during the Leyte Gulf campaign has to be studied to be believed. The DD's, DE's, and CVE's covered themselves in glory in the absolute best traditions of the US fighting man...

    Shōgun

Agree. Have really enjoyed it so far. Not sure I'd want 'foreigner' prepared in a special way, but loving the whole thing in terms of story, costumes, and cinematography. -- Al

Walking Dead (WARNING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS)

Long ago lost interest after the old crews fell apart but really, another chopped off hand? The road warriors of old are really missed from the show. Still remember the shocking episodes involving Carol and the young girls. Now that was zombie TV worth watching. Dump the cities, get back to the...

    Lefty Drisell

Yow is and remains a curse on UMd. A complete horror show. -- Al

    Guynemer SPAD

The Guynemer Spad is my favorite JJD Spad, followed by the superb Luke Spad and then the earlier, less detailed Rickenbacker Spad. The Guynemer Spad had a lot of detailed research go into it and it came out beautifully. -- Al

    Guynemer SPAD

The price for ToT Kempf Tripe is fair. It is a tough find. It also has the advantage of having a beautiful detailed camo job that is far superior than later camo jobs on any of the other triplanes. John found the Kempf camo to be very time-consuming, and thus expensive. The camo is later applied...

    Lefty Drisell

Many great memories of the Lefthander's teams. They lost some absolute heartbreakers, including the Super Bowl Sunday loss to NC State in OT, which remains one of the best BBall games ever played. Had Tommy McMillan in a couple of my history classes. -- Al

News Update February 5th, 2024 - American Civil War

JJD strikes again. What a beautiful choice of regiment. Another example of figures I will have to represent in my collection, even though I a southern boy. -- Al

    Mlb 2024

Re: Mlb 2004 Go O's! Along with a new ownership group that includes Cal Ripken, the O's have gotten former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes from the Brewers. This move will definitely help anchor a SP rotation that needed a vet. With the return of John Means, I'm liking the O's SP rotation right...

    Mlb 2023

Angelos gone, thank goodness. He will walk with a tidy profit. Bought team in 1993 for $173 million and will be selling it for $1.725 billion. -- Al

    N.F.L. 21-22 Season

Well, the Lions impressed me. I waited all year for their bubble to burst and it never did. They gave the 49ers everything they could handle and should have won. Congratulations to Detroit, nothing but a great year, with no down side. -- Al

    The Blue Max (1966)

Oh yeah! Little red Fokkers vs little green Spads. Great game with beautiful box art of Billy Bishop's Nieuport 17, if I remember correctly. -- Al

    The Blue Max (1966)

This is a film I really enjoyed but it has been years since I viewed it. I will have to track it down and rewatch. -- Al

    The Blue Max (1966)

West Front 1918 is a fine film and pairs up well with AQotWF for a German eye-view of the tragedy of WW1. -- Al

    The Blue Max (1966)

Picked up a 1st printing PB copy of The Blue Max a few months ago (having sold my HB series) just to reread again. Hunter actually wrote 2 sequels to Blue Max, calling the series The Bruno Stachel series. The other two were The Blood Order and The Tin Cravat. They are not too bad. -- Al

    A Midnight Clear (1992)

Also liked this when I first saw it on releases. Was a different type WW2 film which I thought really well acted and shot. There are some very memorable scenes. -- Al
