Found a couple of articles, Brad, and it seems that, once again, the Nats are just being the Nats, trying to find the chaepest way out. One article questioned why the Nats would bother carrying Stras as the money is going to be paid, one way or the other, so filling a spot on the 40-man roster...

Interesting. That's better info than I have. Guess the Nats would rather continue the pay schedule of the contract than the payoff. That move sounds like the Lerner's, top to bottom. But, it is their money and the contract was signed. -- Al

Not sure what's going on with this whole fiasco. Would have thought retirement would be relatively straight forward, but evidently not, especially when egos are involved. ^&confuse -- Al

Wow. Absolutely gorgeous aircraft. The Felixstowe, in those dazzle color schemes, have always fascinated me. Also love that Vimy, especially the dark scheme.^&cool All I would need is money and room and I could have one.:redface2: Well done, TGM. -- Al

It is a classic of Noir. Greenstreet is great, as is Elisha Cook, Jr. Even so, I prefer Asphalt Jungle or The Killing, both with Sterling Hayden. -- Al

Discovered another interesting Nat fact this AM. The Nats, as of end of games on 8/26, have the best record in the NL East since the All-Star break. Nats are 25-15 since the break, one win better than the Braves 24-15. Phils are 23-17, Mets 17-23, and Miami is 12-26. Surprised me. -- Al

Yep, Navy's offense needs a Keenan Reynolds to run it if they want to run with the big boys. Without a Reynolds type, they can't compete with the upper echelon teams. -- Al

Two games before the All-Star break, the Nats had hit bottom, 20 games under .500 and looking bad. They won the last 2 games before the break and came out of the break looking and playing like a different team. Since being 20 games under .500, they have gone 26-15 and have become a competitive...

That's a big question, isn't it. Big risk for the signer. If TJ surgery, then he's done for 2024. Not sure he can still demand $500/600 million without the complete package. Gonna be interesting to follow this. -- Al

Well, Ohtani has been added to the long, long, list of those with an injured UCL, and probably now facing TJ surgery at some point. Mr. 2-way Superman is broken and it was completely predictable. Baseball needs to get back to the old ways of doing things, ie., teaching pitchers not to throw at...

Chris, it would be hard to find a more detailed study of Gettysburg than the Pfanz books. I also liked the Hess book on the charge but my favorite has always been the Stewart book, an oldie but goodie. First read it when I was a kid back in the 55 or so years ago. I currently have a book on...
