Is it only me or are K&C boxes particularly large too? As for keeping boxes it is a must do if you ever intend to sell. Agree that this applies to a lot of collectables.
I used to reasonably seriously. I mainly collected New Zealand but also Japan, Aust and UK. I haven't really bothered collecting new ones in the last 10 years as too many are being put out and I think as a result they lose their value.
All the same I still have a collection of some value (more...
Has anyone played the above mentioned PC game? It is a turn based strategy game and covers both FIW and AWI. It is not a typical modern PC game where you create units etc. It is more realistic with accurate units/leaders of the time. If you lose an army they are gone and there is a real limit to...
This I am looking forward to seeing. I had thought of acquiring a French set at some stage in the future as these are a great looking set.
As for the weather my folks live in Bedfordshire and said it had been a most un-English summer. Blue skies, hot and sunny.
Thanks for the advice Brad. I already painted the affected figures but may consider a repair job. I couldn't correct by filing but perhaps I should have tried as you suggest.
The figures on appearance seem fine but probably needed to be carefully bent forward at the ankles as they just seem to...
We have finally finished a few more. We are reasonably pleased. Some good lessons were learnt during gloss application by brush. Move quickly. Try to gloss the darker colours seperately from the light ones. Also check your brush that it isn't collecting colour as the gloss tends to pick up a...
For those who are interested in the progress of my work on the FIW kits I had bought please take a look at the painting section.
I have been really impressed with the kits and intend to buy more. The only problem I found is that the 2 grenadier privates don't stand very well. Before the painting...
I used to be a Japan Film fanatic. I like 7 Samurai. But my favourite Kurosawa flick is Throne of Blood. Ran, Kagomusha and Rashomon are also excellent. All kind of sad though.
If rugby ever took off in the states I am sure they would be a force to be reckoned with. I get the impression that it is a kind of university hobby sport in the US. Kind of what American football is here.
I remember many years ago I took an American University friend in Japan to a bar to watch...
I never had any corgi or dinky but I was crazy as a kid in the 70s about matchbox. I was pretty particular about what I liked. My favourites were upper end cars like Rolls or Mercedes. I particularly disliked hotrods. If I liked the model I really looked after it. No scratches kept the box etc...
I just watched that match as a replay this morning. Also the one Kiwis vs Scotland. That was also a close shave. I enjoyed both matches. Personally I like to see the non-cricket nations taking it to the dominant teams. I am looking forward to the rest of the tourney.
I am not really that keen on most US TV. Too many lame sitcoms and crime shows with the same theme for my liking. However I rate Seinfeld as one of the best TV shows ever. Also the new Battlestar Galactica is the first Sci-Fi show in a longtime to gain my interest.
I don't watch much league these days. I really think it is dying from a playing point of view in NZ. It still has a following but can't compete with rugby here. I used to enjoy it alot but lost a lot of interest after the Super League mess and I have never really got back into it. I used to...
Thanks for the encouragement guys. I am now starting on a second grenadier. Actually my wife is joining me and doing another at the same time. She watched me do the first one and figured it was similar to putting on nail polish. So far she isn't doing too badly either.
I have finally finished my first attempt at painting a metal minature.
This is the NCO from the English FIW series of Grenadiers. I apologise for the dusty TV top where I shot these. I tried so many photos in better locations which kept coming out awful.
It was painted entirely with Tamiya...
