I agree, what a great collection and well taken photos. I really like Tradition's FIW line up. I only have a few Tradition soldiers (all FIW) which I am currently painting. If they are successful I hope to follow up with the artillery set.
I have generally enjoyed the History Channel although one of my friends refers to it as the "Hitler" channel due to the large amount of material on that period. I would have to agree.
Just out of interest the 1998 Rorkes Drift Diorama set is currently selling on New Zealand's most popular auction site Trade Me. At present it is going for $255 NZD (maybe around $140 USD?). Not sure if that is a good price or not but auction closes in 6 hours. I have never seen it for sale here...
Generally apart from the lethal weapon movies I am quite a Gibson fan from the time of Mad Max (though Pt 3 was a bit lame). I think he is a talented actor and director. I recently saw Apocalypto and really enjoyed it.
The Patriot is not so much anti-English but totally unbalanced. Yes I believe...
Thanks for your tip. So far I have only primed one figure and that has been in grey. I think I will do another in white and compare how they go when I do them side by side.
I was going to do an a) of my modest collection (I have around 30 figures in my liquor cabinet just above the fine scotch) to make way for some new ones. Strangely when my wife saw me getting the Britains Napolenics ready to sell she protested. Very strange I thought. I asked her why and she...
I have acquired a selection of Tradition kits and am about to embark on my first attempt at painting metal minatures. I am going to start with just one figure so that I may learn by my mistakes. As I had seen that so many forum members use it I bought some grey primer today. I sprayed the first...
I got the grenadier officer, sergeant, and two grenadier privates loading in different posture. Also the officer and ensign with flag. Plus Robert Rogers and the Indian chief. I don't do dioramas but I thought this group would make an interesting Pre-British loss at Ticonderoga selection.
I had...
The kits arrived in less than 2 weeks from the UK. Not bad considering the Easter Break. Having seen Tradition kits for the first time I can concur with others who have stated how little clean up is required. I am looking forward to working on them but it is going to be a long job. My...
I have an 11 year old nephew who is facinated by my little collection. However the couple of times I have let him touch them he is quite rough.
I had gifted him a Del Prado figure on his birthday and told him to look after it but on the same day the figure's sword had just "fallen off".
Based...
I think I want to keep an eye out for that one. I think the Rangers lead an incredible existence. At present I am reading Frank McLynn's 1759:the Year Britain Became Master of the World. It touches on the Rangers. More than that though I don't think I have ever read a book which gives such...
I love Zombie movies. Especially the original Dawn of the Dead. This movie looks terrible but I would still be curious to see it. When will the history channel be doing a doco of the true story behind the movie?
Gee now I am stuck for choice! Thanks Jeff, these guides are great. Of these units can anyone tell me which ones served in North America during the 1750s?
Do you know a good resource apart from Osprey books for Grenadier uniform colours for this period? I don't think I want to go with the yellow facings as per the Tradition painted models.
By the way Lt. I like your job on the Zulu Wars figures. Is the hospital the Britains one?
Gee great work. They look excellent. I am not sure if I will reach as good a standard of painting but will be sure to post once finished. Just out of interest did you use all gloss paints or try matt with gloss finish?
Maybe it was because he was the Bond I knew when I first saw 007 at the movies, but I like Moore the best. The first movie I saw was Moonraker but my favourite is The Spy Who Loved Me. I like the real English gent he portrays with all the cheeky English humour. I think Connery had that humour...
While it is a difficult hobby to price I don't think it is impossible. I think what this hobby does need is some kind of catalogue like say a stamp catalogue. Not only as a price guide but also as a way for new collectors to look back on models they may like to add to their collection. Therefore...
Hi,
I really liked the idea that was in the painting section with the indians, some rangers and regulars which Jeff and Simon were working on. I think the figures are an outstanding selection. The paint work was also inspiring.
I thought I would vary it a little from their selection as I...
