    Normandy 1944

Recently I created a new diorama circa WWII - Theme is somewhere in Normandy 1944. Diorama was built on a 4ft x 4ft base. Used figures mostly from William Britains, a set from K&C, and a set from ONTC. Village is basically Frontline (from 3 sets) & I believe one from Build-A-Rama which was modified.

    WW2 black soldiers

Mike, You are so correct in your *****sment. Market forces (i.e. demand) is what calls the shots in this hobby. As they say in France, "Se La Vie", "That is life". Chuck

    WW2 black soldiers

Suggestions for making dioramas using the 54th; they led the assault on Fort Wagner; then performed a rear guard action to protect the retreat of the Union Army at the Battle of Olustee; fought against Confederate Militia at the Battle of Honey Hill; and finally fought and sustained their...

    WW2 black soldiers

Britains produced two sets honoring the 54th Mass. Sets #17370 & 17375; and recently added a single colored infantryman marching #31086. The manufacturer "A Call To Arms" did the 54th Mass in plastic, but these needed painting by collector. Frankly, I think an add-on set to the 54th Mass would...

    Bovington Tank Museum

Rob, If you are having trouble with existing photo images being to large in size (anything over 190KB), they can be reduced in size with photoshop type software without losing clarity or sharpness. If you don't have the software, I may be able to help. If you use a smartphone to take the shots...

    Bovington Tank Museum

Rob, Are you going to post the photos in an album (of course titled "Bovington Tank Museum") or the Treefrog gallery? It would be a great reference source on the forum. If you make an album, it would be a plus if you can rename the jpg file with the name of the subject tank or armoured vehicle...

    Two Albums-Color and B/W

TomB Nice approach. Try closer shots for some of the B&W, and see how they look. If you are using a smart phone or digital SLR, try Sepia in Instragram or a sepia filter; especially for WWI shots, for that aged photo look. Chuck

    Figure Counts

I use Excel Workbooks (with tabs for each manufacturer) to keep track of my collections. So far the total for toy soldier (military) figures, including vehicles, and artillery pieces in 54mm scale is 4,017; and for non-military the total is 844. For wargaming 4,332 figures (on 1,390 stands) in...

This forum and your purchases .

As a retiree, my funds are limited. So this forum, through comments, dioramas, and "How To" guides; has helped me focus on direction to follow on a particular subject matter. It has entertained and inspired me immeasureably on this great hobby of ours. Thank you all for sharing. :)

    Almost toysoldiers...

The German auxiliary cruiser Atlantis (HSK 2), known to the Kriegsmarine as Schiff 16 and to the Royal Navy as Raider-C, was a converted German Hilfskreuzer (auxiliary cruiser), or merchant or commerce raider) of the Kriegsmarine, which, in World War II, travelled more than 161,000 km (100,000...

    Lincoln Memorial Vadalized

Love the Lincoln Memorial, one of the best sites in DC. It saddens me to think that it was vandalized. He was one of our great if not the greatest president this nation had the fortune to have. To me his memorial is sacred ground, just like all the battlefields where our soldiers fought and died on.

What ships have you traveled on ?

The only ships I've travelled on was an Ocean Liner when I was 5 years old (can't remember the name) from New York to Maricaibo, Venezuela. I've also been on a Hydrofoil Ferry from Denmark to Norway, and on a yacht cruising the Greek Isles. The only warship that I stayed on (not travelled on)...
