    TSSD GI figures...

My lord, what our families put up with! I've never tried freezing them, but I understand your inspiration. I stood up on our roof on one accassion with egg shells filled with flour testing blast effects of artillery shells while my wife's family looked on in astonishment, half laughing...

    TSSD GI figures...

Gary, one way to remove mold lines on soft butter plastic like Conte's is to use a soldering iron that's temp regulated with a rheostat. That way you can adjust tip temp to suit the plastic you're working with. You can also use the soldering iron to permantly weld plug in arms, shields, etc on...

    K&C Diorama

Wow, look what you miss when you go away for a week! What a fantastic diorama, Michael. What fun to see your pics. Thanks much for posting them. Dick

Ron Barzso's new Lewis & Clark set

Just spoke with Ron about his new set. Sounds like he thoroughly researched the expedition, consulting Stephen Ambrose's book, "Undaunted Courage," about L & W's experiences and, incredibly, had the opportunity to look at Sargent Ordway's original journal documenting the expedition's...

    Conte Alamo 6 & 7; TSSD G.I.'s

Alamos 6 & 7 are now apparently shipping (see his web site for full details). Looks like you get a whopping 320 of his new Mexicans if you purchase both together. The buildings look beautiful and the plastic figs are said to be largely free of undercuts. TSSD's G.I.'s have also apparently...

    OTSN Chicago Show

Sorry for the spelling, guys. I was in a bit of a rush. Guerro is Guerriero. Apologies, George.

    OTSN Chicago Show

I second Fully Automatic's list of tips. They're REALLY helpful. I can only think of a couple of things I might add. Usually in the lobby area of the 4th and 5th floors Don Peilin, the show's organizer, makes maps of the hotel floor plan available so that you can easily see how the rooms are...

What is your favourite toy soldier piece?

Gary, just a point of clarification - I didn't help in planning/designing Ron's pirate ship (what fun that would have been!). I did paint and modify it. adding different fighting tops, rat lines, simple rigging, and cloth sails. It does look great with a little work. I'm working on a second...

What is your favourite toy soldier piece?

I've got at least three. They would include the nearly four foot Barzso pirate ship (looks great painted and partially rigged for play), the Conte FFL fort, and, perhaps my all time fav, the Conte Normandy church and rectory. Whoo hoo! Close second to these three pieces is the Barzso Davy...

    Conte Mexicans and Ken Osen

Ken, can you tell us whether there has been any further sculpture work on the Alamo beyond the buildings in Alamo's 6 & 7. Your post seemed to suggest there hasn't been. Thanks for all your great sculpture work over the years! You've made a lot of us baby boomers happy people. Dick

    Conte Mexicans and Ken Osen

Ken, while we've got your attention, any chance the expanded version of the Normandy church will be available for purchase or is it a one off piece? By the way, Fubar, your dioramas are absolutely beautifully done. I love 'em. Dick

    Conte Mexicans and Ken Osen

Ken, thanks so much for the info! It's really appreciated. I understand you sculpted the buildings (hope I'm right). They really look spectacular. They look very similar to the buildings in the Scotland the Brave set, which I'm guessing you may also have sculpted. When you highlight the...

    Conte Mexicans and Ken Osen

Scott, I'd agree Conte's people most often don't have correct info (I'm not sure why they wouldn't, however, being Conte employees). From time to time over the last year Richard has provided clarification re arrival of the Mexicans himself, the last times being communications to the Marx board...

VERY funny, Gary. Wish my Jap troops were that dedicated. They're good, but not that good.

    Conte Mexicans and Ken Osen

Hey, Fubar, good to hear from you! Absolutely I'll be going to the Chicago show. There's another thread on this board listing everybody who's planning on attending. Looks like quite a list from Treefrog. Hilarious to hear about the end of August schedule. Everytime I've called Conte's...

    2005 OTSN Roll Call

Gary, there is no way I'll answer my phone once the trip starts. No way. Once I get there, I've got no choice - then I have to be open to messages from home that might mess up the trip. I'm a ruthless bugger, aren't I? Dick
