    New Confederate McCords Zouaves

South Carolina planter Wade Hampton became the de facto leader of ANV Cavalry after Jeb Stuart was killed by Michigan Cavalry at Yellow Tavern in May 1864. He proved to be a much more disciplined and focused cavalry leader than Stuart and executed high quality generalship against larger and...

    New Confederate McCords Zouaves

Here is some insight into Hampton's Legion from a cavalry perspective: The original mounted troops were mustered as three companies. A) The Edgefield Hussars from Edgefield, SC located about twenty miles from Augusta GA. B) Brooks Troop comprised of mounts from the Greenville, SC area and C)...

Just Arrived: 31386 - Dismounted Confederate 1st Virginia Cavalryman with Mount

Thanks Ken and Ericka. This offering will go well with the other two dismounted 1st Virginia troopers that were part of the WB Collector's Club offerings many years back. A superb collectible addition.

    The collectors showcase new restocks!

I received an email from CS about a week or so ago. Brian is distributing another ACW CSA infantry unit circa 1861-62 McCord's Zouaves, a South Carolina regiment that was attached to Hampton's Legion. Looks like a six figurine roll out including a drummer. Interesting and collectible.

News Update July 25th, 2022 - The American Civil War

This is really a nice roll out of early ACW Federal artillery. Early war units are so much more colorful, ornate and varied than later stage haberdashery. JJD has done a remarkable job of depicting early ACW forces amid the 1st Manassas/1st Bull Run battle sequence. Keep up the great work. Going...

    Out of Business

I once had a pleasant telephone conversation with Brian, He was very receptive to my call, my questions etc, In fact we both shared an interest in Civil War cavalry and he always delivered with a myriad of well done depictions. He was very objective and thoughtful about his releases and how they...

Thomas Gunn AEG G.IV w/ JJD crew

That's a cool set of photo's. The AEG bomber is an underrated well built WW 1 bomber constructed of a revolutionary steel tubular frame.Combined with the excellent Mercedes 260 hp engines the aircraft served with distinction on the eastern front and in Italy. It's limited range compared to the...

Savoia Marchetti SM79 Italian Bomber in 1/24 scale new Part Work by Hachette

Great idea on a beautiful aircraft but the 1/24 scale size is a non starter. They need to execute the project, in my view, at 1/30 or 1/32.

    Odin's warriors

Very nice. You have presented an incredibly creative, original and visually stimulating diorama albeit two part. Thank you for sharing. Great topic with a plausible and realistic interpretation.

New Releases for June 2021 - American Civil War

As for the 1st Virginia are there individual multi photos of each trooper for viewing out yet? Also can we suspect $130 or so for the price per figure? They look good in a plausible action sense much more useful than the famed WB line of the same regiment which were depicted almost in a parade...

New Releases for May 2021 - American Civil War

Book ended between the Federal color attired JEB Stuart figurine in the largest photo is the first two of I believe six 1st Virginia Cavalry troopers. They appear to be excellent depictions. Looking forward to buying those six probably in a month or two?

    The American Civil War Diaries

Bob: It's your right and privilege to bow away from posting your incredible depictions of past events of ACW military conflict. For the unenlightened and misinformed the subject of toy soldier collecting particularly in contentious conflicts (aren't they all?) is often given inaccurate...

    Talk !

It's an excellent depiction of realism. A tribute to the hobby. Lost my father in law in January. He was a 29 year retired US Marine Corps veteran including two tours in Vietnam. In later life he suffered from PTSD. He attributed his disorder to his deployments and combat experiences in Vietnam...

    KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- April 2021

It's interesting on how threads about upcoming releases evolve into cryptic inferences. I think K&C has developed into one of the unabashed leaders in the toy soldier multi production world. They create incredible, varied products at decent prices on a myriad of topics. In American baseball...

    KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- January 2021

The Confederate Cavalry are decent. K&C toned down the yellow cornflower trim that dominated the first wave of mounted Rebels into a more plausible and realistic look. Glad they are producing ACW product.Seems like the engagement of this conflict back into their production fold was necessitated...

    1/48 Eduard HANRIOT HD.I

Nice work. Somewhat underappreciated role in the conflict. The HD 1 was sandwiched by the Nieuport 17 and the Spad 7. The aircraft despite being a French design derived more notoriety flown by Belgian and Italian squadrons. A good chunk of the HD 1's were manufactured under license in Italy.

    kronprinz ACW

Thanks for asking Emilio. Would like to see less emphasis on the F Troop gatling gun captain parmenter larry storch indian wars custer wipeout circa 1870's marquees. Instead do more ACW cavalry including both Union and Confederate depictions. You can do really accurate creations with mounted...

JJDesigns July 6th, 2020 News Update

Thanks Dragoon. I see my mistake now. It's sometimes hard to interpret the staged, unpainted prototype photos. Nonetheless even if JJD releases seven figurines including Stuart it will fit well with the subject.

JJDesigns July 6th, 2020 News Update

Appears to be an eight figurine roll out. Five troopers including Stuart adorned in slouch caps replete with the feather look. The other three wearing period kepi/bummers caps.Circa 1861 at First Bull Run Stuart apparently wore his blue clad US Army issued nine button frock coat. The other...
