    Odd Lancers. Any ideas?

Thanks John, That's what I was thinking about them as well. Stripping the paint off them may reveal if the heads have been changed. They are quite odd though. Regards, Scott

    Odd Lancers. Any ideas?

Something of a mystery. These two figures came in a job lot I purchased some time ago. I suspect they may be Staddens, but am not sure. They have sheet steel bases. I am also not sure what they are meant to represent. The labels on the underside have them as an Australian Cavalry Trooper 1914...

    Napoleon's Marshals

Assuming you are looking for a dark blue? Lifecolor LC35 Matt French Blue is a dark blue I have used on French Napoleonic figures. It requires two coats but gives a dark blue finish. I used it on this figure. Humbrol Matt 104 Oxford Blue is similar if you are painting with enamels. Scott

Nano MetalFigs - new line of miniature figures

They look good and remind me of the Asterix, Tin Tin and Nicholas figures available in France. My young son has suggested the Guardians of the Galaxy figures would look good in his room:). Scott

HELP - Deauville Model Kit ??

An old thread I know however early on in the thread I was discussing the figures that Roger Saunders had sculpted. This video was posted on the MilMod site and thought it may be of some interest here as it shows Roger at work sculpting Hornet heads- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eASgPxs5hoM...

    Broken reins

Gary, I would file the damage reign ends off and make a new bit by cutting and bending a paper clip. I would drill the edges of the horse's mouth and Araldite the bit in position. A simple way to make reins (as recommended by John Firth here on the forum) is to get a section of good quality...

    MasterBox 1/32 Napoleonic Series.

Just returning to this thread. Other matters have been occupying time lately so have returned to this project over Christmas. I ended up painting the base and using a laser cut cobblestone sheet made by a company called Reality in scale. They seem to be focused on 1/35 scale which suits these...

    Critique away....

Zach, They look really good for your first attempts. Some good advice here from Brad regarding painting eyes and smaller details. The brush I use for eyes and fine details is a size 1 for the reason that Brad has given above, that being that you can load some paint into hairs at this size. I...

What Toy Soldier items Have You Acquired in The Last 2 Weeks ?

I picked up another old New Hope Design figure I have been after for some years. MA1000 British Infantry Private, 1900 modelled on the R. Caton-Woodville painting of 'The Gentleman in Khaki'. It is in bent in a few places and needs repainting but should shape up into a nice figure. Scott

    Labayen miniatures for sale

The actual kits themselves were boxed. I have a couple of the later kits with the square bases that are in nicely presented boxes. Similar to the old Hinchliffe boxes. Scott

    Labayen miniatures for sale

Wow! These are beautifully painted. Mirof has some Labayen catalogues on his fantastic website if anyone is interested- http://www.mirofsoft.com/nostalgia-old-catalog-pdf/ I would be interested in that article on Ramon Labayen Brad. Scott

    Wehrmacht Uniform Fieldgrey

The figure on the right looks good Wolfgang. The Vallejo German Field Grey has a definite tinge of green as Brad suggests. I wouldn't lose sleep over the colour as there seemed to be a lot of variation due to manufacturer, age and materials. Scott

    Britains Heavy Howitzer (Parts)

John, Speaking of steam traction engines, it could be worth talking to a local model engineer about that one. Some of the barrel and mechanism parts look like they could be turned up fairly easily on a small lathe. Scott

    Old WW1 photos/postcards

Norman, Regarding the top photo which was probably taken in France. I'm not sure if you are inclined to research or not but I think some time spent on New Zealand's Archway (National Records) site and their First World War soldiers records would allow you to identify the unit and location/time...

    Russian Army Napoleonic ARTMI

Nice to see you working on this figure Victor. I have the Russian figure and the Austrian Infantry figure as well. They are numbered 1 and 2 in the series. I gather the French Infantry figure is 3. I agree they are similar to the Airfix 54mm collectors series figures. They were made in...

    Identification Please -

I think it looks like a Norton Big 4 outfit, but with telescopic forks. The riders is wearing a Despatch Riders helmet. Certainly British. I'm not sure that flash is right. 4th Light Horse regiment had that as a patch in the previous war. Scott
