Very well executed diorama and photos Martyn. I continually am amazed at the look of ACW glossy figurines. Trophy has taken this art form to a very nice level. Thank you for sharing.
Brad: That photo is a treat. Trophy's Confederate Artillery in those gloss tones is timeless. They do such a good job with their depictions...graceful and understated. Tommy: You deserve huge kudo's to have accumalated such a great collection of ACW glossies. Is it all Trophy? Or is there some...
Walt: I did not intend to offend or to provoke. In fact any person who would create such a thoughtful diorama and share it with others should be applauded. The written word can sometimes be taken with multiple interpretations but in my view your creating that for your grandson's speaks...
This diorama has great intentions. Accordingly we have a Fokker DR1 obviously a Richthofen depiction circa 1918 replete with latin crosses. The figurines spliced in are circa 1914 featuring troops wearing pickelhaubes. A nice idea but an historical interpretation that does not add up.
Richard/Ken: Seeing that well done Zulu era mounted figure on the heels of the fantastic Napoleonic Dragoons and Lancers set for late year release I did some homework on my 2012 Confederate Cavalry suggestions I chimed in with this afternoon. Apparently the Rebels sensing that rebellion was in...
Brad: Nice figure...my compliments to Mr. Deddens. I think glossies have a spot in any collectors curio. I have accumalated 15 of the 21 exquisite glossy Confederate dismounted cavalry that Guard Corps Ltd. made back in the 90's courtesy of some help from Mr. Gideon Rettich who originally showed...
Just left the Treefrog shopping site and decided to click on the WB catalog thread. The 2011 Winter rollouts featuring Napoleonic Cavalry i.e. British 1st Royal Dragoons and French 3rd Lancers is astounding. A visual treat of well sculpted, masterfully painted and crafted 3 dimensional art...the...
I hope that WB continues with their 150th ACW anniversary theme for 2012. In other words a couple of solid rollouts for each side for the year would be to observe some of the epic fights of 1862. I am partial to McClellan's ill fated Peninsula Campaign culminating in the epic Seven Days Battles...
The September issue of The Standard is excellent. For ACW afficianados the "Baptism at Manassas" article is first rate. We get a study of that opening battle and a glimpse of the new mounted officer figure and Virginia Infantry adorned in their early war regalia. They are well done and should be...
Mike: Let me just add this tidbit to tomorrow's highly anticipated Badger/Cornhusker prime time confrontation at Camp Randall. I just got done reading this weeks Sports Illustrated that includes a terrific story about the Wisconsin team led by their great offensive line affectionately called...
Mike: Excellent diorama. You do ask a great question. Where is General Stuart and the Cavalry? I have been asking myself that for a number of years. We located a single 1st Virginia trooper in the woods this spring but no forces seen otherwise. Perhaps by late fall or winter or as I suspect...
Chris and other Union Civil War Cavalry afficianados: The placement or usage of slouch hats on Federal Cavalry should be avoided or at worst be extremely constrained (mostly just for officers). Quite simply the 1861 regulation Hardee hats were eventually phased out in favor of a bummers cap as...
After seeing the prototypes of these figures with the troopers armed with Spencer repeating carbines and Blakeslee boxes I thought: Wow! Those are cool. I have to have them. Price is secondary in my thoughts. Why did I think that? Because no manufacturer had ever depicted ACW Union Cavalry with...
I do not think that Frontline has done too bad of a job depicting ACW Union Cavalry. There line is a bit thin but they managed to do a couple nice six figure dismounted sets although they featured three figures of each pose making the look a bit too redundant. Same is true of their sculpted...
I purchased my WB dismounted Union Cavalry figures for about $25 a piece inc. postage. I think they are terrific. The FL figures are $55 a piece. Based on pricing are these figures twice as good as the WB rollouts from earlier this year and last fall? It is a valid comparson and worthy of...
Mike: Nice vignette. It speaks volumes to the fact that more mounted WB ACW cavalry inventory is needed. Those three mounted Yanks are splendid... light years ahead of the first generation WB ACW Union Cavalry much like last years dismounted depictions are the gold standard compared to the...
Mike: The figurines are superb. Will be a must have for any serious ACW collector. The variation of this units look contrasting against the back drop of more regulation uniformed units lends an incredible depth to any diorama or display. Just sent you a PM... I'm on a roll lobbying for more...
