I'm fairly sure that most WW 1 afficianados are become acutely aware of the Jenkins designs. Very nice but not a real depth of offerings. Perhaps down the line they will continue with more obscure aircraft. My points on WNW is to stress that you can enlist some extremely talented model builders...
This is a terrific thread. The WW 1 community is undergoing a tremendous renaissance in aviation models fueled in part by the John Jenkins designs and augmented by the splendid 1/32 models being made and distributed by an upstart New Zealand based firm called Wingnuts Wings. The brainchild of...
Thanks Brad for the offer to scan in some catalog photos and to post them. I'm just trying to ascertain how many figures were made in the series so that down the line I have an idea of what I have and what I need. Right now have 15 of this set and want to add to it to complete the lot. The Fair...
If any one out there has additional Guard Corps Ltd. dismounted Confederate Cavalry that are not photographed in this thread (16 shown) I'd be interested in purchasing them. Send me a PM and we can discuss. Looking for the guidon bearer set (5 figures) in particular.
Mike: Good stuff adding to this great thread of Chris's impressive Union battery diorama. Obviously tomorrow AM at 4:30 marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the American Civil War with the attack on Fort Sumter. It was a time in history that shook our great country at its foundation. The...
Chris: It will be a treat when Mike gets back to see a Rebel battery in action. I believe him or Ken mentioned that a Confederate Artillery battery was composed of four guns not six.
Terp: That is an incredible display. Grand in scope and very comprehensive in its depiction. The presentation is textbook of a Union Artillery Battery in its deployed form. The packaging of fine quality figurines combined with terrific scale accessories and scenery gives incredible layers of...
Ken: Over the years you have done a terrific job of depicting the Union in particular in a generic setting. Being a cavalry buff I would like to see specific units: Custer's Michigan Brigade with standard bearer (1st,5th,6th and 7th Michigan) early war orange braided 1st and 2nd US Dragoons...
That terrific figurine could very well be depicted as a trooper of the 1st Corps escort...the 1st Maine Cavalry, Co. L. The 1st Maine was a tremendous unit with an already established reputation. Confederate Cavalry General Turner Ashby at one time labeled the 1st Maine "tough as mules" after an...
Mike: Outstanding composition. Your WB layouts are hitting on all cylinders. It always helps to have a steady stream of relevent and timely products to juxtapose into your historically accurate highly plausible stagings. Great presentation once again.
Mike: You are spot on in your seeking to see more circa 1863 onward Rebel mounted Cavalry. The Union naval blockade by 1863 was already having a significant impact on the commerce and hence ability of the Confederacy to feed, equip and attire its people and its armies. We mock on the taxi cab...
Mike: The Virginia cavalry regiments are terrrific examples of quality Confederate units from the ACW. In addition to the 1st Va. (commanded by Jeb Stuart, William Jones and Fitzhugh Lee). The 2nd Va. (commanded by Thomas Munford), the 4th Va. (commanded by Williams Wickham and later William...
After checking out pages 36 and 37 of the 2010 WB catalog, Britains rolled out six dismounted Union cavalry figures in addition to the Collectors Club dismounted officer and then paired five of the six with the previous years release of a trooper firing behind a horse casualty as well as with...
Mike: When I'm done posting this I'm on the phone to get mine. It was a long drought for some Rebel Cavalry. This 150 year anniversary piece is just perfect. If Richard and Ken can follow up with four or five more troopers to augment this figure it's a perfect display that can go with the...
Richard: Glad to see you back from the Westcoaster show. I'll be placing my Collectors Club order in this next week. Hope we get that figure(s) by May or so.I'm choosing the dismounted trooper from the ACW: 1st Virginia Cavalry. That is a great piece being circa 1861 150 year anniversary figure...
Noah: I actually believe that collectors once they get what they want can settle into a "What have you done for us lately" mode. I think WB, Frontline and CS do a good job on the ACW. Conte is good but they seem to have an aversion to cavalry. Most makers get pushed and pulled in other...
