Chasseurs a Cheval de Guarde Imperiale 54mm Russian Made by HM - Overpriced??

Got this figure as a gift back around 1995. My wife bought it at an `unknown' Soldier Shop in Manhattan; somewhere around 5th Avenue & 55th St. The store which specialized in Russian figures has long since closed. I've been trying to sell it on Ebay on & off for over a year now...

Napoleonics collectors; how did you get started/what attracted you to the period?

I collected the plastic soldiers as a child.. they used to come in Cereal boxes.. Then as an adolescent, I discovered Britain's and had several sets of Guards, Beefeaters, Bengal Lancers and Seaforth Highlanders.. they were all destroyed... At 16, I discovered Polk's Hobbies on 5th Avenue in...

    Bridge of Spies

Forget what I said. Went back and watched it again and WOW! What a wonderful movie! Fabulous role played by Hanks and the story was extremely heart warming. Glad I saw it!

Black Mass - Depp as Whitey Bulger

I am not a fan of Depp, however he played this part brilliantly. Excellent movie.

    Bridge of Spies

Tom Hanks was good and there was an authenticity in depicting the period. Yet, I couldn't sit through the whole thing. I found it boring - I felt I knew the story already and this movie wasn't telling me anything new.. Yes, it sucks to be charged with spying during a cold war.

    Stalingrad 1942-43

Exceptional! Wonderful set up; attention to detail and the best backdrops I have seen.. Realistic, authentic and totally immersive! So tired of seeing otherwise wonderful dioramas spoiled by gigantic, intrusive bases.. IMHO, if you're going to show bases, you don't really need the "ground...

    Fear The Walking Dead

just binge watched all 6 episodes.. The survivors all piss me off.. but the main disconnect I have is if they had all those zombies in the stadium, why wouldn't they use explosives to eliminate them?

    FIGARTI T34 and K&C T34 together

:redface2: oh my! I sure got that wrong.. Well, K & C then get my accolades for including bedspring armor on their T-34 statue. (the "statue" would be quite ok if there were openings in the suspension)

    FIGARTI T34 and K&C T34 together

Wow! Love the Figarti model with the cool bedspring armor! Too bad it does not really have a suspension; somehow I can't get over that because to me, that it's a "statue" and not a "model" or "toy".

which do you prefer gloss or matt ?

Gloss for me, thanks. I like the concept of Toy Soldiers as TOYS. I do enjoy super realistic matt figures in Dioramas. However I only like dioramas where the figure's bases are hidden. Glossy TOY soldiers are fine with bases showing; there's no need for pretend realism. They're TOYS. Also...
