I'm inspired by all those who devote their time & efforts to make such wonderful, detailed and immersive dioramas as seen on this forum.
You do great work; Thank you!
superb!
perfect use of realistically painted figures - no bases to be seen..
(I'm so tired of "realistic" dioramas where figures appear to be standing on chocolate chip cookies)
I played with PLASTIC soldier figures from toddler to about 12...
It was interest in HISTORY, real battles and the beauty & function of UNIFORMS which made me want to start collecting METAL Toy Soldiers at around 16..
These days, much of that is available on the computer & on line... Have you...
The hobby of collecting "figures" is not totally dead, it's simply evolved..
There's Fisher-Price figures, Playmobils, Legos, GI Joe and all sorts of movie figures like Star Wars, Star Trek and of course all the Disney movies figures.. There's many, many more.
METAL soldiers were never really...
I usually don't comment on Nazi oriented content..
- BUT I must say that these dioramas are exceptionally well executed!
Quite near perfection! Well done!
I would assume there will be a time when figures cost $100.
(hot dogs were 10 cents and coffee a nickel when I was a child)
Even if I didn't buy a piece for one or 2 years, I would still consider myself a collector as long I have a standing collection.
(there have been many years that I did...
I can see a few reasons for price increases main one being cost of labor rising in the countries that soldiers are made..
Another is the trend for "ultra-realism". They're not making toy soldiers; they're making miniature statuettes.. the painting of the figures is getting ever more detailed...
I'm with you; glossy TOY soldiers are my ideal; never was into the trend for ultra-realistic matt soldiers in such "specific" poses..
Yes, put them in dioramas so you can use all those poses - but it still looks odd because the bases are fat, high and obvious. It totally breaks the immersion -...
I got these plastic "trees"..
I would really have loved painted metal, but that's very hard to find...
- until I do, I'll use some of these for my Zulu set-up..
wow! You're right, never noticed.
But there's still one fault in their formation..
Actually someone named it when I reposted this on "Glossies" forum..
But you got another, good eye..
